Pretty odd that you didn't include this tweet for context.

You don't spend enough time on Black Twitter. There's not a hard "r" to be found. What if he did what Rivals does with cuss words and puts something in there that totally removes the N word or other choice words when they're written. Imagine how bad that would piss off so many of the POS MAGAs...and black youth.
I think they're making a mistake if they let people use the word freely as a way to cause trouble. To ruin discussions. Trolls, basically. That's what I assumed they wouldn't do, just because internet communities don't fare well when you do that. I figured that's where most of the juice would be where n-bomb usage was concerned. But that's exactly what it is today.
Even reversed Kanye's ban. So everyone is fleeing from Kanye...except Musk and some Nazis.
I don't think it matters in the long run. I think Twitter is just as destined for failure as Facebook. Kids and young people don't use either and I doubt that they'll pick Twitter up because Musk makes it more toxic.I think they're making a mistake if they let people use the word freely as a way to cause trouble. Somebody like Kanye, I think, is less of a problem. Genuinely stupid beliefs, for the most part, I don't think should be censored.
It'll be interesting to see where things are at when the dust settles a bit.
She got banned for a tweet that said there were an extremely high amount of deaths due to the covid vaccine. Which is wildly false. The specific post Marjorie Green Taylor got banned for was that vaccines do not prevent someone from getting the virus. No offense that is a true, it doesn't stop you from getting the virus. It may give you some added immunity and most likely if you get it reduce the symptoms and likely take the worst outcomes off the table. However, Marjorie Green Taylor has put a bunch of drivel on there before the post she got banned for.
I tried to be one of those. But their stupid algorithms keep shoving the stuff in my face. There's people popping up I've never heard of just because I supported an actor who likes and interacts with them. I never knew that following Mark Hamill would cause tons of others to suddenly show up on my feed that had nothing to do with DC or Star Wars. That part is frustrating. I wish they'd kill the algorithms. Show me the stuff by the people I follow and nothing else.I think you will still see moderation around open threats and personal harassment.
I think the solution is WAY more transparency about the moderation process and an attempt to apply it in an evenhanded way that with a goal of benefiting the user experience on platform, rather than a goal of social engineering a political agenda.
So, like some kind of racist troll farm that posts a slur as a reply to 100s of thousands of tweets is going to be bounced, because it ruins the user experience. But a comedian is probably not going to be bounced for telling a joke about a transgender. It's also probably going to be a moderation platformed that isn't gamed by mob reporting.
I think Musk is a free speech advocate, but I don't think he's claimed to be a free speech absolutist. I expect there will be red lines that will be unacceptable, including direct harassment and threats, but it will be way more open than it is.
I think Reddit is much closer to the model they will be trying to go for in terms of moderation and freedom. There's a reason that most Reddit users feel positive about their experience, and most Twitter users jokingly call it a hellscape. Some of that is cultural, and he just may not be able to do it, but I expect that is what he'll be going for.
And by the way...there are tons of people that use Twitter for jokes, sports news, hobby news and commentary, etc, and it's AWESOME. Millions of users are totally unaffected by the flame wars and trolls and mobs by simply choosing not to participate.
Good point. Not sure what the Ron Filipowskis of the world would do.
I liked this but some platform will replace them if they went awayWho cares? Hopefully twitter and Facebook both fall off a cliff. Would do society a favor.
Would not surprise me at all if China and Russia assisted with this purchase…they have a lot to gain. And with this news and the news that russian unblocked it, makes a lot of sense.
That’s exactly what I noticed last night when I went and deleted the app. Full of that stuff and all was “suggested” based on connections like that.Something definitely changed within the algorithm already because I’m getting a bunch of conservative whack jobs on my feed because they’re followed by some people I follow (I.e. Jordan Bohannon loves him some conservatives).
It used to happen on occasion but my timeline is full of em now.
How is my comment homophobic, you moron?More homophobia from the left as usual. The left is what they call everyone else- bigots who discriminate against anyone not among the white elitists in their party.
And the double down homophobia from someone who is likely in the closet. How is my comment homophobic, you moron?
There is nothing whatsoever wrong with someone else’s balls resting on your chin. I support that 100%. It just doesn’t make those balls your balls.

Yeah, I don't think any of these social media sites have any great permanence. This stuff all exploded for the first time in the 2010s. I hate any of it as a long term investment.I don't think it matters in the long run. I think Twitter is just as destined for failure as Facebook. Kids and young people don't use either and I doubt that they'll pick Twitter up because Musk makes it more toxic.
It’s not about dumb with him it’s about ego. He’s worse than any teenage influencer thirsty for internet cred. He’ll do or say anything if it keeps people talking about him. And in this age outrage sells.Yeah, I don't think any of these social media sites have any great permanence. This stuff all exploded for the first time in the 2010s. Unless Elon really fixes some of the underlying algorithms I don't anything changes much anyway.... and with little to no moderation for purposes of free-speech purism, it'll turn into a cesspool. (I assume he's not that dumb, we'll see)
I think I started getting far more MAGAs on my feed about a month ago. I don’t know how many times I’ve clicked on see less of Ted Cruz tweets.Something definitely changed within the algorithm already because I’m getting a bunch of conservative whack jobs on my feed because they’re followed by some people I follow (I.e. Maybe the problem is youre an adult "following" college kids.....Something definitely changed within the algorithm already because I’m getting a bunch of conservative whack jobs on my feed because they’re followed by some people I follow (I.e. Jordan Bohannon loves him some conservatives).

To be fair I was like 24 when he first got into college lol.Maybe the problem is youre an adult "following" college kids.....
Of course it did. It’s no longer public. It’s Musks. Duh. Do you have any idea how the stock market works? Christ.I don’t know if this factors into the equation, but Twitter filed documents to be removed
from the NYSE.
Just goes to show you actually how much conservative thought suppression was really going on prior. It’s not that more conservatives are there. Which there undoubtedly are, but how much if their tweets you weren’t seeing beforeSomething definitely changed within the algorithm already because I’m getting a bunch of conservative whack jobs on my feed because they’re followed by some people I follow (I.e. You know what else I’d like to see less of…..I think I started getting far more MAGAs on my feed about a month ago. I don’t know how many times I’ve clicked on see less of Ted Cruz tweets.
I suspect it has more to do with Elons ownership of Tesla (and their advertising supporting that downstream) than politics. But second level analysis isn’t exactly your thing after all so not surprised you failed to make that connection. And GM pauses all advertising on Twitter….money talks BS walks…
Boy I can’t wait to stop by this place the Wednesday after next…..lol.That’s exactly what I noticed last night when I went and deleted the app. Full of that stuff and all was “suggested” based on connections like that.
Lesson I guess is to remove the conservatives from our bubbles? I actually think that’s about the only way our country moves forward if these sites enable you to filter out those viewpoints you don’t want to associate with. Like it used to be you might be ok with neighbor Bob, then you saw his Facebook posts and realized what a nut he was and decided to steer clear…
What I know is that Twitter won’t be formally delisted from the NYSE until November 8. What I don’t know is what changes Musk is allowed to make between now and November 8.Of course it did. It’s no longer public. It’s Musks. Duh. Do you have any idea how the stock market works? Christ.
I wasn’t seeing them for a reason. I don’t want Trump’s ass sniffers showing up to claim the 2020 election was stolen all over my timeline. They were rightly kicked to the curb.Just goes to show you actually how much conservative thought suppression was really going on prior. It’s not that more conservatives are there. I think Twitter will be more successful than ever. But we will see.I wasn’t seeing them for a reason. I don’t want Trump’s ass sniffers showing up to claim the 2020 election was stolen all over my timeline. They were rightly kicked to the curb.
But whatever, something else will eventually come and take Twitter’s place.
Did you reach your post limit for the day under your NC handle? 125 posts is quite a lot!I think Twitter will be more successful than ever. But we will see.
Did this actually offend some lol... the usual victims.I can't imagine why Twitter is a mess when we have such leadership in this country.
You sure do care a lot about user names... 40,000 posts is quite a lot...Did you reach your post limit for the day under your NC handle? 125 posts is quite a lot!
