Well, now they do, but that's not what they said first. Sometimes you only get one opportunity to explain yourself.Multiple people involved with selecting the team have actually said that

They messed up, plain and simple. Replacing Griner and Gray with clark and Arike made the most sense. Get DT her precious 6th gold while passing the torch to CC would have made for good TV.. but we know the wnba doesn't make the best decisions and DTs crusty old ass probably wouldn't want that either.Well, now they do, but that's not what they said first. I blame DT and the old guard more than USA basketball. I'm almost positive USA Basketball took input from them and all of them basically black balled her off the team. Basically, all that talk about growing the game and getting paid more was complete bullshit if they weren't the ones doing it. But, USA Basketball just wants a team that will win and if putting Clark on the team is going to make everyone else suck then you keep her off the team. It speaks a lot to the maturity and professionalism of those players that they would let that happen but here we are. They messed up, plain and simple. CCs play clearly deserves it. Her marketability puts it over the top. Still a mind-boggling decision and one that's going to look worse and worse as the season goes on
Yep…picks were not based on merit. Just more of the same “ Old girls club” favoritism. We took the 12 best players…well, other than Diana Taurasi, she’s a legacy pick. Oh, and Chelsea Gray, she made it based on the previous few years. Oh, and Britney Griner, she also made it based on past performance. But other than that, we took the 12 best players.
I don’t believe Griner and Gray competed in the training camp either yet they made the team. Why were they selected?Clark chose U of I over her country when she turned down in invite to training camp.
Not sure why people are then whining when she is not selected for the team.
it is absolutely insane that the best female basketball player the world has ever seen is not selected to play in the Olympics.
she is not the best female basketball player the world has ever seen.Taurasi is on the Olympic team
she is not the best female basketball player the world has ever seen.
it is clearly... and undoubtedly.. Caitlin Clark.
there is a reason why the masses are tuning in to watch her
there has never been a female basketball player like her
Pretty clear who the best player on the court was their last game when they played a team with 3 olympians
You are stupid
I don't think she's the best player in the league yet but to say she's far away from it is laughableShe is far from even being the best player in the league at this point.
like I said... You are stupidCaitlin herself would tell you she is not with the all time greats yet. Very possible’s she does join them.
You can make a strong argument for greatest college player…but that is a long ways from the greatest ever.
She is far from even being the best player in the league at this point.
Greatest draw of fans…yes…she definitely has gotten that title is her 12 seconds in the league.
like I said... You are stupid
CC is going up against opponents that constantly pressure her.. double team her..
she's going against terrible officiating, bad teammates, and an absolutely horrible coach.
yet she is still putting up record numbers.
the only reason the whole world is tuning in to watch Caitlin Clark is not because she is a pretty white girl from Iowa.
it is because there has never been a greater female basketball player in the history of the world.
she is amazing... and just fun to watch.
nobody in the WNBA has to put up with what she puts up with.
to me, its just weird that you people hate her.
A jokeshe is not the best female basketball player the world has ever seen.

yea, not only are you stupid, you're a liar.Being realistic is not hate.
Your disrespect of the other women in the game…that’s hate.
I hope the all stars kick some Olympian rear end.I've moved on from her being left off the team. Looking back, it’s pretty clear that she was not going to be on the team. It was probably no more than lip service given to her being considered for the team. She's proven her worth and place in this league in a mere 20 games, and her play would have have earned a spot on the team. It would not have been just some marketing move. But, it wasn't happening this time around. While keeping her off the team seemed like the wrong move for women's basketball in general, and as hard as it may be because we are fans of Caitlin first, maybe we follow her lead and be gracious and not speak ill of the process or the team. (Plus, I think it will only enhance her status, not just with the league, but with fans overall). Instead, let her get some rest and recovery so she can finish the season strong and get the Fever into the playoffs. From where they started this season, that would be quite an accomplishment.
Everyone knows CC would and could do very well in the Olympics. That was quite the line she put up in the box score yesterday against a team the Fever usually struggle against. CC played great in crunch time from what I saw in replays.

Has the US Olympic team changed the roster since it was first announced????? I heard one or two players are injured or have been and they have not played much. Just wondering if they have been replaced or are going to be replaced.
CC wouldnt even be a starter in the Olympics so not as much pressure on her.
She should be a starter though.Everyone knows CC would and could do very well in the Olympics. That was quite the line she put up in the box score yesterday against a team the Fever usually struggle against. CC played great in crunch time from what I saw in replays.
