What are you making? - Christmas Dinner

Varies. Brunch spread this year. (Along with an ungodly amount of cookies, breads and other traditional Christmas snack food as always)

I'm bringing some top notch bacon and sausage from a local butcher.

Underrated Christmas snack food: homemade Chex party mix. I founder on that stuff once a year. We double up on the butter and seasoning.

Also: homemade eggnog. (I use makers mark, skip the rum) That stuff is godlike.

Yep.

Double the Worcestershire if that’s not included in your seasoning above.

We are doing tic tac toe Italian other than dessert.

Caesar
Scampi
Spaghetti and homemade meatballs
Garlic bread
Asparagus w prosciutto

Apple pie

Snacks - Chex, Garrett’s popcorn, meat and cheese

Why in the f!ck would you freeze Chex mix? I like it best hot out of the oven.

Best out of oven. Make Chex at Thanksgiving and freeze it. Pull it out for XMas.

Trust me on this. Put a small batch in the freezer and let me know.

What monster in life taught you to do this? Make it fresh.

We do. But when we make it, we make a metric shit ton.

Make it a thanksgiving and freeze what you don’t eat.

Want some in mid Dec? Just pull it out of the freezer.

Trust me on this - if you don’t like it out of the freezer with a short warm up, just throw in in the oven or microwave

I’ll take it further than Torb. Not only is it overrated, it’s not good.
Not all prime ribs are created equal. You need to start with a quality piece of meat, season it properly, and then slow roasted until it is a nice medium rare to medium. I love a prime rib that is tender, juicy and flavorful. Me and my family will be having prime rib for X-mas.

This is the way.

And it doesn't actually need to be "prime"....

Oyster stew on Christmas Eve; Prime rib on Christmas Day.

We did Beef Wellington last year, and it was very good, but we're going back to the rib this year.

Italian beef sandwiches
Roasted Asparagus
Garlic Mashed Potatoes
Scalloped Potatoes
Green Bean Casserole
Homemade Spinach and Artichoke dip

Might make a soup too, just made Zuppa Tuscana over the weekend and it turned out great
