Wirfs OWI ?

One regular, garden variety, domestic beer is the equivalent of about .025. I had an OWI back in 1998, had to take a class, so I know this. So, two regular beers drank very quickly would get you to .05. Significant amount to get to .03? Hardly. The only thing body weight has to do with it at all is the impact it has on your body - how much you feel it. If he was at .03 he either had gone several hours after drinking a lot (body metabolizes about .025/hr), or he had recently consumed 1 or 2 beers.
Were you 330 lbs in 98? Doubt it. Getting a man who is 330 to .03 would take more that some say 150. He has more overall blood in his system. Maybe not a ton but more than average size person.

There is gonna be much worse news/suspension coming out this week..... the BR and TW situations gonna be after thoughts after this week.

I got attested for my OWI when I was 20 and charged the day I turned 21. Shit happens.
That's the problem with our legal philosophy. It's so black and white it ends up making no sense at all at the margins. A person doesn't magically become more mature on their birthday. Smh.

Black and white huh. So your saying wealth and connections and PC considerations don't make it gray? And the grayer it gets the more the rule-of-law gets replaced with the rule-of-the-jungle? Interesting.

Do we really need to equate Wirfs OWI with the argument regarding illegal immigrants?

Apples and broccoli kinda comparison isn’t it?

No matter where you are in life and no matter who you're talking to or what about, there's always somebody that wants to brings politics into the conversation. Some idiots just can't help themselves.

You needed another teacher if that was what they taught.

I believe I read where maybe he had two other people on his scooter when picked up!! WTF. Why not just put a big ass spotlight on yourself and leave your brights and turn signals and flashers on too!

Well logic and sound reasoning goes out the window when combination of alcohol and 19 years of age is involved. It doesn't excuse the behavior, and he will be dealing with the fines/penalties and extra cost for the privilege of driving for the next few years, as well as likely suspension for at least 1 game.

With all that said, I don't quite track with the opinions calling for 3 or 4-game suspensions. KF has shown a willingness to punish these sorts of things pretty consistently, and the older the player is the greater the penalty for an infraction. Hopefully Wirfs learns from this. He's hurt the team quite a bit with this one, as he's the best player on the OL from a physical standpoint.

The standard suspension is 1 game. This has been consistent at Iowa & ISU over the years.

I can appreciate the narrative they are just young college kids. However, when you are a Div 1 athlete playing football at the University of Iowa ... and the football season is under way ... and you are a part of that program ... and a starter for the team ... well, to get an OWI is simply stupid ... Give him a 3-game suspension (minimum) ...

The season is underway? I must have missed that.
