*** #10 Iowa vs Michigan St WBB Game Thread ***

You couldn't see anything... just as well could have been the MSU player causing Caitlyn's arm to flail.

Game! Hawks by 3. You may not ever see an ending like that again!

I have to see this intentional foul on Clark.

Up 3, inbounding the ball with 5.3 left. Clark gets called for an intentional foul giving MSU 2 fts and the ball.

Hit the FTs then a foul called on MSU.

Molly Davis to the line, hits both.

MSU woman was talking to a teammate right next to Caitlin. She could have said something like, I'm going to guard this B right here. And Caitlin shut her up.

I can't believe that Caitlin would just pop her for fun.

I would think someone on Twitter will have it up at some point.....

Hawks up 3 with possession off a time out except Clark with an inexcuable foul off the ball to give MSU two free throws (both good) and possession. MSU with an unbelievable chance to win but turns it over. Davis with two free throws to make it a 3 point game again. Half court MSU shot just misses. Game over!
'Off the ball' being very nice. It was a dead ball pop in the mouth. The two had been jawing all game. Caitlin lost her cool. Thankfully somehow they won.

Can someone summarize the last 6 seconds, please??
Clark throws her arm sideways on an inbound play and the Michigan state player falls away as if a flintlock ball hit her in the jaw. Knowing what I know about flintlocks, her head would have come clean off from that distance. So an embellishment for sure. Is it also a foul on Clark? Probably. I'm never quite sure why one official gets left out of the video review but in this case it was the only female member. They eventually call her in to take a look and my wife mentions why would they have the person with no depth perception try to make this call. They huddle to discuss if they really want to be at this game any longer and decide that yes, the ghost of Tom Izzo's elf sweater would not tolerate this no call. 2 free throws and the ball to the Spartans. Both free throws are good, the ensuing possession looks like they were told they only had 2.5 instead of 5.2 seconds and results in a James Harden gather travel. Iowa inbounds, Hannah Stuelke is fouled from the moment the travel occurs until the refs blow the whistle for what I thought originally was a 5 second call. Somehow the foul actually happens against Molly Davis. She knocks down both free throws and MSU is forced to heave up a half court prayer which just barely misses. Iowa wins by 3. Final score of Iowa something, MSU three less than that something. (I forgot what the score was in my rambling)

Not even gonna comment on the officiating because LOL.

Caitlin looked so lost trying to create offensively in the final possessions of regulation without McKenna (injury) and Monika (fouled out) to pass to. Great coaching by Bluder to call a timeout when we got down by 3 and make an adjustment to run the offense through Kate and Hannah instead of Caitlin. She was off her A game, which hey, that will happen some nights. And when that happens, better to trust others than for her to keep forcing garbage on her own. That cliche of "taking what the defense gives you" comes to mind... I feel that will be her steepest learning curve once she goes pro.

Most importantly: We need McKenna to be OK. Did anyone listen to the postgame and happen to catch anything about McKenna's prognosis moving forward? If she's gonna be out for an extended time we desperately need one of Addy/AJ/Sharon to step up. I've liked how we've looked the past few games with Hannah at the 5 for a few minutes per half. BUT, if McKenna is out long term, we can't rely on Monika and Hannah to play all 80 of 80 total minutes at the 4 and 5. Kate and Syd can play the 4 for a possession here and there, but it's not a sustainable option against most teams.

Coach Stamp didn't know if Warnock would be able to go against OSU. Jamie never even asked Coach Bluder about it. Gotta say, she can be a bit of an air head.

She did have one comment I liked - she said it took 30 minutes to play the 5 minute overtime, and it felt like 2 hours, to which I agree :)
