I am assuming that he isn't done growing yet and may very well be a legit 197er next year.
That’s why I said maybe in a few years. Do u think he looks big at 184 this year? Cause I don’t.
I hate the idea of bumping guys. Especially when they are so good. Hope he fills out and looks like Minnes 184 and not like Iowas current 184.
Anything’s possible but he did wrestle 165 last year and said he wanted to wrestle 174 which might have been his best weight this year. He’s not a huge 184. He Probly still needs to fill out his current weight. And he might want to not be competing against his brother for the next two years either.
Don’t think they would have gone after Ludington if they thought Angelo could only effectively hold 184 for 1 or 2 years. His brother AJ hasn’t gotten any bigger in last 3 years. He said everyone wanted him as a 174 except Iowa
Angelo is a 184. He can get big quick but will be a 184. He was 200 this summer. Which isn't much for a 184 in the summer.
Iowa’s 84 and Minny’s 84 were built similar, imo. But one was about six inches taller.
Reports are he is significantly limited. Only able to do a partial split with one bird. 😝

Yabbut what does Angelo think? I’m picturing Brands approaching Angelo and asking him if he’ll be upset if the Hawks don’t bring in his brother while emphatically shaking his head up and down. I will say this. I work with dozens of PhD decision scientists, who build lots of solutions. What I’ll also say is that they’re not particularly outstanding at determining the best problems to solve.

It’s not the short term success AJ would bring but it would take years to recover. He will crush our recruiting efforts. Go get the number 2 or 3 guy instead. Elam is no slouch. Please get off the AJ train because you are the “one who is missing it.”

You are 100% WRONG on the recruiting!!! If anything, it would most likely bring in MORE recruits!!! With the wrestlers we have, the ones coming in, and AJ. The LARGEST fan base, with by far the most popularity would only GROW!!!
Again AGAIN!!! MANY conversations would have to take place. I would start with his brother. IF he was not 110% on board? It would then be ended right there. My next conversations would be with INCOMING recruits, ESPECIALLY BO BASSETT!!!! IF he was not 110% on board, it would be over!!!
ALREADY said, I would wait to see that AJ had ZERO issues this season! Also that I would have a sit down with the kid and read him the RIOT ACT!!!
ALL this being said, IF you can bring in that other TOP CAT to fill a year easier? I would be all for that TWOOOOOO!!!! I guess they just failed laying out these expectations of him being 110% on board last year. I’m sure if he knew the expectations when he was auditioning he would have towed the line. Not his fault. Coaches need to do better.
