****2024-25 Chicago Bears Thread đź’©****

Alright, let’s start talking OL.

He’s going to be high on draft boards, but Will Campbell of LSU is someone that I would prefer to see the Bears avoid. Every LSU game I watch, he struggles.

I really think Poles needs 3 new OL starters between FA and the draft. They need a new C, LT, and as much as I like the kid they need a replacement for Jenkins because he can't stay on the field. I think I saw a stat saying he has finished less than half of the games he has started.

The OL situation is so bleak. But looking around the NFL, it clearly is something that few teams have figured out.

The Bears need an all out effort to get it fixed immediately.

Idk that you can fix it entirely in one go, but at least be serviceable.

Injuries haven’t helped but guys I thought might take a step forward have regressed and the scheme has failed everyone.

Glad Waldron is gone, wish bears had just cut ties with Eberflus as well.

Wish this season would have sucked from the get go, I’d have traded Keenan, DJ, Etc

What a huge wasted year this will turn out to be, all bc the front office refused to see what was right in front of their faces, Flus is not a winning head coach.
The shine has quickly worn off Poles too. Imo he should be out with Flus at the end of the season if not sooner. His misses outweigh his hits at this point and that can't happen in a rebuild.
Fvck.

I think you have to have the next HC have an offensive background…Ben Johnson is going to be a very popular guy in January.

I was at the game on Sunday (got free tickets through a work vendor) and it was hard to sit through. I feel like the Bears owe me money for having to endure that shitshow in person. Is this what rock bottom feels like? The "Fire Flus" chants were LOUD.

I saw a Xeet yesterday talking about Chargers DC Jesse Minter being a fast riser in the coaching ranks, and that he’ll be getting a head coaching job soon.

I swear to everything holy, if that’s the route the Bears go, there will be an open bonfire at my humble abode for Bears fans to make deposits into the blaze.

The Bears really need to stop drafting a QB before they fire their lame duck head coaches. Mitch, Justin, Caleb were all drafted by a lame duck coach that was fired after their rookie season unless Flus saves his own ass some how. Don't see how.

Also, the worst thing in the world is for the players to revolt. They seem to be over the head coach and now they want the backup QB to play?!?! That is an awful situation. Either you let the players run the team (not an option) or you get rid of the cancer. Let's start trading guys. You aren't moving Caleb.

The ONLY reason you bench Caleb is to protect him. I have a feeling that’s not why players want Bagent to play. What a cluster.

Jenkins is a FA after this season. I suspect that's why he hasn't missed a game so far. He's missed snaps, but he's played in every game. He knows durability is his liability in free agency.

He's gone unless he's willing to take a cheapo contract. No way he gets a great deal.

Good chatter on Unsportsmanlike this morning about firing Eberflus, and who do you hire as a replacement? To me the Bears need to hire a HC. A strong HC. A guy who has done it before. Stop hiring guys that need training wheels. You have a weak ownership group, and a young GM who might like a compliant, inexperienced HC like Eberflus. Bring in someone who will take charge.

7 sacks?

pathetic OL
They had a stat on PMS yesterday that Caleb leads the league with 27 sacks after holding onto the ball for longer then 4 seconds which all the players on the show said was a horrible stat. It isn't all the oline. WR not getting open, QB not throwing the ball away when you should.. just a complete shit show all the way around.

Bears had their shot at him last year
They had no shot at him last year, he can pick any opening in the NFL to get a job and it won't be Chicago or Cleveland. Why would you want to go to a franchise that has been broken for over a decade when everyone wants you?

FO doesn't want to hire a strong personality as it clashes with their MO a la Ditka/Harbaugh. Their past HC hires seem to be a lot of soft-spoken passive men who can't really lead a locker room. These are the types of coaches McCaskeys will never hire.

And if you think Ben Johnson is coming here getting less than 16 million, whoo boy...

Part of the problem is I think they’re asking him to do too much as a rookie. Very few of the pass plays seem designed to get the ball out quickly, have short options when the deep routes aren’t there.

One complaint I read about Waldron is that he seemed to be treating Caleb like a 10 year vet.

Bc not "everyone" has a job available. If you're getting hired to be a HC you're likely going into a currently bad situation. The Bears are thought of as one of the best of those bad situations.
That said I don't think Johnson stays in the division nor do I think the Bears will pay him what he wants.

There’s what, Jets and (presumably) bears at the moment? Of the two, the bears have by far a better situation. On average there’ll be another 5-7 openings at the end of the season.

Did New Orleans fire Allen?

No they are not, just yesterday they literally were talking about no one wants to go there because the franchise has been a mess for so long.

On a player personnel level they do have a good situation. Skill position players are above average, a good defense…find a way to upgrade the line in the offseason and that’s likely a playoff team next year imo if Caleb develops.

Yes they did. So the Jet's and the Saints jobs are already open. At the end of this year odds are these jobs are all open.

Both NY jobs, Jags, Dallas, Saints, Chicago, Raiders, Cleveland. Outside shot of Bengals, Colts and Seattle. That's 8 to 11 jobs. The 2 NY, Jags, Saints, Dallas, Chicago and Cleveland are all but locks.

Who's they? The Bears are a charter franchise and it's an incredibly desirable job regardless of how bad it's been the last decade plus. What possibly available job is more desirable? Certainly not the Jets, Saints, Giants, Browns, or Jags... even Dallas is less desirable bc of the meddling owner who things he's a great GM.
But I still fully expect them to step in their Ds and not hire the best available candidate bc its the Bears and that's what they do.
