Yep. 3rd down defense was terrible all game. Disappointing season; but at least Williams is looking pretty damn good.Seriously, how many 3rd and 10+ did Vikings convert? at least 3 that I can think of.

Based on a 2 game audition, if that keeps up, I hope whoever the next HC is takes a long look at keeping this interim OC guy on full-time. Seems to have a good rapport with Caleb.Yep. 3rd down defense was terrible all game. Disappointing season; but at least Williams is looking pretty damn good.
They probably wouldn't have went for 2 the 2nd time then. Why the f*ck did they go for two? Kick the XP and that field goal is a game winner. Or am I missing something?
As long as he can make it to the next Vikings game and give us one more win on the season, so we can at least get to 10 wins.........
For me it is important that Williams has progressed during the season. Fingers crossed he keeps his focus for the rest of the season and a new staff is brought in to develop him. Fingers crossed Eberflus doesn't waste him physicallyYep. 3rd down defense was terrible all game. Disappointing season; but at least Williams is looking pretty damn good.
At the time it made no sense. Screw these stupid analytics. Why the f*ck did they go for two? Kick the XP and that field goal is a game winner. Or am I missing something?
thisWith no shot at the playoffs, this was actually the best outcome for the Bears.
1. Another loss—improved draft position, better chance for Flus to be fired
2. Caleb and Rome looked awesome
That’s basically what I want to see for the rest of the season.
Hopefully that loss was embarrassing enough that they fire his ass tomorrowRyan Poles and the McCaskey's will be able to turn this into a narrative about how the team is improving. It will be a moral victory. Honestly, as a fan a close loss doesn't mean much to me. I'd rather they had lost by 50 today, and fired Eberflus on the tarmac when the charter jet landed.
Take someone from the staff and make them the HC. Allow Moore to concentrate on the offense/Williams, and let Washington run the defense.Hopefully that loss was embarrassing enough that they fire his ass tomorrow
Caleb is a stud. Give me Ben Johnson or Mike Vrabel next year.
For this year, yes.. but Id be okay if nobody on the coaching staff ever returnedTake someone from the staff and make them the HC. Allow Moore to concentrate on the offense/Williams, and let Washington run the defense.
That is fine, take what you can get out of this year, and you allow the coaches left to audition for new roles on new teams for next season. Develop Williams. For this year, yes.. but Id be okay if nobody on the coaching staff ever returned
Least surprising thing I've ever read
I've posted this many times, the Bears feed a lot of hungry mouths. Nobody really knows the structure of the team, but the Bears are the sole revenue producer for the McCaskey's. It's four generations now, and a lot of the money the team generates is siphoned off to support Pappa Bear's heirs. Who has voices besides Virginia and her kids, nobody knows?
they did that last time when we got poles/eberflus.The question is does Warren guide the hiring process, or does he let Poles do it alone? One issue the Bears have had over the years is hiring/firing coaches and GMs on different timelines. Best to clean sweep sometimes.
To me it isn't so much the hiring of Eberflus, it was the stubborn decision to keep with him. Poles likes to hang onto his mistakes as evidenced by Velus Jones.Well, apparently Warren has been pushing for changes, so maybe he’s more involved than it appears. GMs usually get two coaches, so Poles better it right. Of course, the process that led to hiring Eberflus was dysfunctional
The process was screwed up when they hired Eberflus, so not sure how it’ll look now, given Warren’s presence. Jones didn’t pan out, but it wasn’t like he was blocking some great talent from being on the roster. His draft’s have been fairly productive. To me it isn't so much the hiring of Eberflus, it was the stubborn decision to keep with him. I’m not interested in kingsbury as HC. Has failed at Texas tech and Arizona in that capacity.ESPN’s Courtney Cronin writes the Bears are hoping to interview Lions OC Ben Johnson and Commanders OC Kliff Kingsbury for their head coaching vacancy.
Interim coach Thomas Brown will also be considered and interviewed. The smoke tying Johnson to Chicago has already come on heavy after Matt Eberflus’ firing, with Adam Schefter reporting a belief that Johnson has interest in working with Caleb Williams. Kingsbury would be a more contentious pick as his passing offense has mostly backslid over the past month, but he does have experience developing good young quarterbacks.
No. As a fallback option, sure. But first choice needs to be someone with an offensive background to help the young qb.Don't make this complicated. Hire Mike Vrabel.
Maybe, Dave Wannstaedt is on the Score a few times per week, and he discussed his own experience with this as a defensive minded HC who lost multiple OCs in the span of a few years. It happens, you have to build a framework and have an offense that isn't dependent purely on the OC. It's what we have with Kirk. No matter who the the OC is, the offense is... Well, consistent.No. As a fallback option, sure. But first choice needs to be someone with an offensive background to help the young qb.
The problem with hiring a defensive guy is that if he nails the OC hire, that guy likely moves on after a year or two and you have to start over again. Not to mention the bears just tried this with eberflus.
Sure. On the other hand, wannstedt never had a franchise qb.Maybe, Dave Wannstaedt is on the Score a few times per week, and he discussed his own experience with this as a defensive minded HC who lost multiple OCs in the span of a few years. I wouldn't hate that pick.Don't make this complicated. Hire Mike Vrabel.

Harbaugh did NOT want the Bears job. He had no interest in it.Every time I start thinking about potential HC candidates I get pissed off about missing on Harbaugh.
