Well even if they did they would most likely hit you up at church with the collection plate. The pastor has to make a living after all and needs a nice new ride.

Quite the cynic.

Many pastors could make much more in private industry than the clergy.

Having religious discussions on HROT be like:

I’m not religious and a lot of this stuff makes no sense to me. I assume mortal sin means a bad one. If missing a church service is a mortal sin, what is murder called?

So, if I'm reading this right, the Catholic Church believes missing a church service is just as bad as murder? They’re both mortal sins, right?

That’s crazy.

Not necessarily.

It depends on multiple factors like full consent of the will and level of knowledge.

It can get complex. :)

only sluts and heathens miss sunday mass, even if they watch online or go on saturday

except Jesus was a practicing Jew who had no concept of a Roman catholic mass or ever professed the penalties for missing one.

Jesus taught and preached about Church. It started with Him. He opened up Judaism to the Gentiles and the whole world.

He told Peter: "Upon this rock I will build my Church and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it "

Then it got passed down to present day and here we are. :)

it means you go to hell for eternity for missing a ritual created by men interrupting God's word. unless you confess in a ritual created by men interrupting Gods word.
Recommend you read Armaments 2:9-21. It will all make total sense then.

Then maybe they should . I suppose Jesus words that “ you received free so give free” doesn’t mean anything ?( Matthew 10:8)
Or perhaps the apostle Paul who said we are not “peddlers of Gods word”(2 Corinthians 2:17)
Just for the record the men who take the lead in our congregation teaching do so without compensation. They have full time jobs to support themselves and their families .

If a Catholic misses Mass without a reason, it's a mortal sin.

It's stupid things like this why I left the catholic church and gave up on organized religion. If God is so narcissistic that he requires my attendance at church or he will damn me to hell and doesn't judge me on how I lived my life and treated others I don't want to be a part of a God that is like that. Personally I think that's all bullshit. Like oh no I had a hamburger on a Friday in lent I'm a huge sinner 🙄...I have a relationship with God and I don't need these stupid pointless rules to do that.

The only sin Jesus said was unforgivable was sinning against the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 12:32)There is nothing in the scriptures remotely saying missing church is a mortal sin.
Now Hebrews 10:24,25 does ENCOURAGE followers to meet together but in no way does not attending constitute a mortal sin. Ridiculous teaching along with the idea of a loving God torturing people forever in a fictional hellfire.

Do you know how much the Jehovah's Witness clergy make?

Many pastors make less than $50K per year full time.

it school, whenever I was in line behind a girl I liked, I took holy communion with a boner. up tucked in my blue slacks.

I never could get the courage to confess it. I thought I was a pervert.

God doesn't force us.

Jesus told us about the Parable of the Wedding Feast. We're all invited to the banquet of eternal bliss.

It's up to us to choose it.

You don't want eternal bliss?

Wrong.
Jehovahs witnesses are not paid clergy
Not sure where you got that but personally know the brothers who take the lead locally do not make any salary

How much do Jehovah's Witnesses make, was my question?

How much do your leaders make?

Your classic response …go ahead and show me scripturally where it says missing church is a mortal sin LOL

Are you quoting yourself?

I showed you Jesus's teachings about Hell and you reject it.

How much money do you make per year?

I make under $50K as do many pastors.

If they got private jobs like Jehovah's Witnesses do, they could make lots more. :)

What does what I make a year have to do w clergy?
And I don’t care if that pastor makes 10$ a year , the point is no one should be a peddler of gods word. It’s black and white in the scriptures. Every dollar that is collected locally in my Kingdom Hall is done voluntarily . And that money goes to cover the expenses of the building , and for the worldwide preaching work or used for expansion of kingdom interests worldwide. Not going to pay anyone’s salary.

My point is most Christian clergy could make alot more if they had regular jobs like Jehovah's Witnesses do.

You probably make more than most.

The doctrine of Hell is also black and white in Scripture.

Once again don’t you find the concept of hellfire to be inconsistent with a God of love?
Why do you ignore that point?
I’ve said this before but what did God tell Adam would happen if he was disobedient? Did he mention hellfire or did he say Adam would return to the ground from which he was taken? Surely Adam would have deserved hell as you want to see it? In effect that would make a God a liar. Nowhere did he mention hell to Adam . He said death, not punishment in a place of torture .

Ah there it is again, a little laughing emoji since you have no idea what you’re talking about . You should go back to supporting your political candidates and stop pushing an unscriptural doctrine like hellfire on this board .
I will say to you I appreciate your zeal and to have a good evening .

You crack me up, dude. I can post whatever I want here. You are free to put me on ignore.

And Hell is 100% Scriptural.

Here's Jesus:

"And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell."

- Matthew 10:28

I went with my wife this am. Catholic mass. Was too long (1:25) in part due to a presentation by teens doing a mission trip this summer, but not terrible. Guest priest visiting from Western PA talked about a YouTube video by an attorney who researched astronomy tables and supposedly discovered that on the night of Jesus’s birth, Jupiter and Venus converged and formed a bright light. Too lazy to look up the video myself. Gave money to support the mission kids for their trip to TN and that was that.
