*****Arkansas St vs Iowa Game Thread*****

Did the announcers just say Krikke is someone who has stuck around and Iowa and waited his time to shine rather then transfer? I thought he transfered here just this year.

Not watching and just going off this thread, but when has Iowa MBB and FB teams ever not played to the level of their competition - at least for however long before finally putting a lesser team away?

Makes it so frustrating when they "struggle" vs a team like this.

3 of the veteran starters

2-7. 1-3. Pmac
2-10. 0-4 PS
3-12. 0-2. TP

You just can't have that. Thank God for Krikke and Bowen tonight

Hawks won 88-74. Going by this thread, I thought they barely got over 70 & only won by a point or two. lol

And not making excuses, but they just came off a roadie at a Top10 team and have B2B games against Oklahoma & maybe USC over Thanksgiving. This was the what they call the stereotypical "trap game".

For those who did watch, I know discussion throughout the thread was that Payton missed a bunch of shots ... did it look to have anything to do with after-effects of his fall @ Creighton, or did he just have an 'off' night?

Payton is streaky and streaky is not good.
Consistency is good.

Bowen better.
Bowen is a year older is 2 inches taller and is playing like he wants to continue to start, 17 points tonight which is his best scoring game as a Hawkeye. Harding is at a disadvantage being a freshmen and not getting the same amount of minutes. Always an uphill battle. It could be this way the entire season, something Brock is going to have to deal with. Continue to work hard and let the chips fall where they may.

Payton looked fine to me health-wise. Was battling well on the glass still.

Bowen looked really good tonight. Now 4 games into the season with only 1 T.O. and in my rewatch of the Creighton game tonight I thought he was our best perimeter defender in that game. Basically took Ashworth completely out of it to the point Greg eventually benched him.

Krikke does give up some rebounding and defensive. But he's so good on the offensive end that it's not really mattering much at this point. He had moments tonight too where he poked some balls away and jumped some passing lanes for steals. So he's not a total 0 on the defensive end.

Overall--Iowa can't be allowing 16 offensive boards in a game to anyone and expect to win against good teams. That's my biggest concern as we have 5 of the next 6 games against P6 teams.

The team as a whole didn't look all that good, Tuesday hangover, but to your question, Payton didn't look like he was playing like anything was bothering him. The whole team was mesmerized by Arkansas's speed and quickness  and couldn't rebound and get out and guard the 3, Something that is going to haunt this team and overcome for the rest of the season...unfortunately😡

So far this season, Dasonte has 17 assists, 1 turnover and is 1-5 from three. Once again tonight Dasonte did not attempt a 3 point shot (in 29 minutes).

As a team, Iowa shot 17% from 3 tonight (2-12).

Not concerned that Dasonte not shooting any three's, he played tonight with confidence and he made shots plus his 3 throws, all you can ask of him.
