Yes. That would guarantee him 8th at worse. Big 10 has 9 qualifers. If he loses, he would go into a 4 man bracket to wrestle for 9th with the other 3 guys who lose in the same round of consi’s

He wrestles Malczewski from Michigan St who is a pinner. Needs to stay out of bad situations.
The weight is incredibly wide open. The consensus #1 has dropped multiple matches this year, Ayala isn’t firing like he was earlier in the year which is unfortunate but he’s incredibly talented and has a high ceiling if he will just trust his offense.
Man, this kid can get after it. His mental edge is just fine. Kids like Drake will dial it in and be just fine despite the circus environment. Season of distractions...

The MD arena (xfinity center) is quite nice. I’m in upper level but don’t feel far from the action at all. Great video screens, lots of concessions, etc. They can hold it here again as far as I’m concerned.

A win over Smith would be his first top 10 win of the year. Depending on the other conference tournament results that win probably puts him in the 7-9 range.
There are a lot of very good wrestlers at 197.
SL might have mentally broke him at the SS. I hope he comes out swinging from here on out but I’m more apt to believe he will drop another soon.
