Bracketology: Hawks 6 seed

This was before Iowa won at Michigan. Is David, a beat writer for 24/7, right? We should get a 7 seed if we win our next 2 games (final reg season game + 1 BTT game)?

What if we win our next 3 (final reg season game + 2 BTT games)?

Again. Explain how Michigan, based on EVERYTHING, could be ahead of us? They were a projected 6. This team is a top 6 seed.

Before tonight's game, per ESPN, Michigan was a 6 seed and Iowa was a 7. Why? Don't ask me. ;)

Iowa had a long losing streak that soured everyone on them. Very few people have gone back and done true head to head comparisons. If you look at the NET and overall quality of Iowas season, they should be moving toward a 6, but you have to compare teams from scratch, not a biased opinion from watching Iowas slump.

During the game last night they showed Michigan's resume and Iowa's. Iowa's is better in every respect except W-L, and that will take care of itself. Yet Michigan was a 6 seed and Iowa a 7. That's crazy. Iowa's SOS is 13! They haven't been blown out by anyone, and they beat top 4 USC and should have beaten top 4 UCLA.

Anyway, after trouncing Michigan in Ann Arbor last night, and presuming at least 2 more wins, Iowa should be a 6 at the worst with a 5 more accurate. And win more than 1 game in the BTT, which they will, and a 5 should be a lock with a 4 not out of the question if they make the title game.

As someone said (OK, it was me) this Iowa team is WAY better than its record. Last night was a hint of what's to come.

I don't know how the ESPN guy justifies it. I do know that he does bracketology (and covers WBB) for a living, though.

Here is another aggregator for ratings and schedule strength…

Real RPI has us @ 21st & 7th SOS…

Interestingly, there are only two teams in the NET top 100 that have played at least 17 Quad 1 & Quad 2 games so far, Iowa and South Carolina.

Oklahoma State has played 9 and they're ranked 3 spots ahead of the Lady Hawkeyes with 3 Quad 3 & Quad 4 losses. Iowa has no losses in Q3 & Q4. WTF?

Just gotta get off the 1/2 second round matchup and watch out folks. Not that I don't think this team couldn't take down a 1 or 2, but I'd rather be facing them in the sweet 16.

Here they discuss a 6 seed being very possible.

If Iowa gets that 6 seed, they would face an 11 seed in the opening round. Win that game, they then would likely face a 3 seed for a berth in the the Sweet 16.

IF they would make the Sweet 16, they would then likely play a 2 seed for a berth in the Elite 8.

Check this out & watch:

I hope gets to a 6 better seed.
However, ISU is somehow hanging on to an 11 seed and a team no one should want to see in NCAA. You get the wrong refs and Adi scores 40 and your whole team fouls out.

I still think we are a 5 or a 6 at worst.

How about Creighton as a 4 and us a 5? Anyone NOT sign up for that as long as Drake isn't the 12?

I think there’s a chance we may be favored versus any team in the Big Ten tournament except for USC, UCLA and probably Ohio State

Getting to a 6 seed would be huge as I think we would match up pretty well with all of those 3 seeds besides Tennessee.

Agree, think we're at a comfortable 6 now.

After a recalc this morning's with the ranking systems, we're still sitting at the 1st 6 seed. Was hoping it landed us at the last 5 seed or better but not so lucky just yet. However, the 6 seed looks like a solid position for now.

Think the only way to make the 5 seed now is if other teams above us get upset badly or we make a deep run in the BTT. Obviously we still need to take care of our own biz so we take a stumble before the madness begins. So hopefully if all things fall into place with no +/- games we should make the 6 seed.

Even when other bracketologist had us at a 8 or 9 a couple weeks ago (hell some have us at 9 yet in their recent brackets) they were off. We were already at a 7 then.

One only needs to look at that graphic with an added eye test on how we played against 4 of those teams listed there to see a 6 seed is very reasonable. One game early in the year. The other 3 just recently with a win against a #1 and close losses on the other two. Also one of those games was an OT away game. So the trendline is in our favor at the end of the year also.

Yes, I'm well aware that more goes into this. Most, if not all, of those categories are in our favor as well.

I'm not afraid of Iowa playing any of those 3 seeds.

Creighton beat Drake by 8, #3 in the Valley & UNI by 4, # 6 in the Valley. Im a huge Blue Jays MBB fan, but the women’s team would not be in the top half of ANY P5 conference, including the Big 12 who is fairly average!

Of the top 16 teams, which schools could Iowa fans show up and buy enough tickets to make an impact.
Kansas State?
Kentucky?
