Brody Grothus

Truly appreciate the sacrifice and effort given by Brody Grothus. He saw an opportunity and gave all he could. People that haven't wrestled, haven't competed for something will never comprehend what he has done. He will be a success in life. Thank you Brody and thanks to all the guys in that room that show up everyday to get better. Not for the glory, just to compete and get better. A valuable trait in life.
Very well said, CC! Couldn't agree more. I'm sure it would mean a lot to Brody if you tweeted that sentiment to him, condensed into 140 characters or so. Kid is hurting and any support he hears from fans is a big lift.

Ray, please announce this when it is released. I would hate to miss it!

Team Foxcatcher (they finally settled on a title) comes out April 18th at the Tribeca Film Festival, and April 29th on Netflix. On the odd chance that anyone here wants to see it in Tribeca, buy a ticket now; the first showing sold out in under an hour, and the rest will probably sell out soon.

I did make the cut, by the way. It'll undoubtedly be the most fascinating several seconds of the film.

I haven't forgotten that I have some questions pending, here, by the way. Hopefully I'll get to them soon.

Thanks for the heads-up, Ray. Looking forward to your answers to any pending questions! No idea what the questions are, but I know we'll all find the answers fascinating!

I'm a big Hawkeye wrestling fan, but I'm an NDSU alum, so I had to post this:

A while back some folks seemed to get excited when this thread reached 1000 posts. Impressive, but I was just out at the NDSU Football "Bisonville" Forum, and saw that the Carson Wentz thread is 1084 PAGES long. Now that's really impressive. Of course there's a big difference between a woulda/shoulda/coulda college NCAA wrestler and an NCAA QB that may go #1 in the NFL draft. Plus, NDSU is as football crazy as Iowa is wrestling crazy. Go Bison, and Go Hawks!

Just curious - does anyone know what the longest thread there has ever been on this forum? Maybe a Metcalf thread?

That is pretty incredible. 1084 pages, smh. NDSU football support is either very impressive or the solitude of North Dakota has interesting effects on some minds.

Last thread I started on Brody I believe it went 13 pages. :)

Anyway, for you guys that don't subscribe to the lounge, Brody will be at the Midlands 100% only if he stays healthy till then. His weight is down to 141 now and on target. IMO would not be surprised he only went a couple matches and take it slow up to Big Tens. Now... hope I'm wrong as I would love to see him win it all like all of us, but wrestling 4 or 5 matches in two days might be asking for to much that soon. We shell see.

Where is the Brody love? Almost two years since anyone posted on this thread!!!

Can someone summarize this thread [1153 posts] in 3 sentences or less?
Iowa had three studs at 149 (Grothus, Cooper, and Sorensen). Grothus had beaten studs like Tshirt, Kindig, and Grajales but lost the 149 spot to Sorensen. Grothus then worked the cut to 141 to fill a hole and I spent an inordinate amount of time speculating how awesome he would be 141 (and others joined me).

Grothus vs. Grajales was an amazing match by the way; if I recall correctly, they went into overtime with each having around 20 points. I can’t find it on YouTube anywhere though... :(
