DeVries NOT a candidate for Iowa job. Ben McCollum the next Iowa HC?

There’s no way this is accurate. No coach agrees to 4 year contracts. 5 is the minimum for P5 schools with 6-7 years being the standard these days.
Agreed, no way you only do a 4 year deal. Just a thought that occurred to me though is that with the transfer portal coaching stability for the long-term may not be as important as it was when a future prospect new they were going to be at a location for 4-5 years.

This is a good summary comparison between McCollum and DeVries. DD is the right guy.

Per a discussion w/ a contact (well connected business man in the community) in Applington-Parkersburg (DD's hometown of course) area, the IA and DeVries camps have been talking for months now. It has nothing to do with the relative timing of Drake still being in a tourney and WVU not. IA has had the money together for awhile to buy out DD contract and add to the NIL to make us competitive (something IA recognizes & DD insisted on). Furthermore, it sounds like the administration recognizes this is the time for a complete reboot on many fronts (marketing, student engagement, big donor funding, moving forward w/ CHA renovation, etc.) and has a good start on funding same.

This has been a done deal for sometime. There is a reason DD sat on the WVU extension for half the season. I'd be stunned if this info isn't essentially correct.

DD will be an outstanding coach here at IA to take us to the next level. He's an Iowa guy through and through. As others have said, this is his dream job.
Excellent input!

What makes DD the "right" guy compared to Ben McC?

I know Twitter is Twitter but this is in reference to a podcast with the WVU AD on. Feels like the first piece of legit news we’ve gotten and it’s not the most favorable

For the uneducated, what makes DeVries just as good, if not better than McCollum? I've heard good things about both.

Meh…..I’m not going to pay any attention to any rumors. I’ll wait for the official announcement.

That's a lot of money to pay considering Fran's buyout and West Virginia buy out.... Would have been a lot cheaper last year.
I said this multiple times last March and got laughed at. With Fran’s kids leaving and the trajectory of the program, it was obviously time to move on. Beth’s hands must have been tied.

through all the smoke the one thing that’s telling is WVU declining post season play. That should tell u they are preparing for not having the HC around… just my uneducated opinion but that one seems the most curious

What we can believe on social media is DD has issued two statements in the past 24 hours and neither mentioned preparing for next season at WV.

Indiana and Ohio State also declined
