I don’t think the medical year would have anything to do with the extra year granted due to the pandemic. If it gets granted, I think he’ll still the medical year. There’s no reason why he should be penalized because he and others got the bonus year.

DTripp - I totally disagree on MK. There is no question he would get the medical. And they need to judge that with or without whether the cancellation grants some blanket extra year. MK missed a year due to medical before the cancellation so they are mutually exclusive. So under your theory he gets a medical for missing last year if they don’t give a virus extra year to everyone but if they do then he won’t get a medical for the year he missed? No way they can do that.

Y'all are giving the NCAA WAYYYY too much credit. And besides that does Kem really want to wrestle/go to college for 7 years? That's almost the Tommy Boy plan.

Tripp - that is 2 different issues. Nowhere did WWDM nor I say MK would take it. The position you asserted was that if the NCAA grants an extra blanket year for the cancellation this year then there is no way MK gets his medical redshirt for his injury and missing the year before. There is absolutely no way the NCAA will punish MK for an injury and missed year “if” they grant relief for this year. I guarantee if you were asked 2 weeks ago if MK would get an extra year you would have said yes. I don’t give the NCAA credit for much but there is no way they would ever do that. There would be zero bases in fact or law to do so and be against prior medical redshirt precedent. Again, no clue if MK would take it but I guarantee he will have 2 years left if they give people an extra year. But I don’t think the athletes will get an extra year anyway so he will simply get his medical year.

MVP - totally agree. Just shows the level of delusion of the fans and the state of the program. We are getting the best guys from the best club in Iowa run by an ISU alum wrestler. Maybe they should hire Sebolt! Cause hiring Carr only got them 1 wrestler, his son. At least ISU has cross country.
I heard they already tried.

Pollard thought he could resurrect the wrestling program by throwing a bunch of $$$ at an aging HC. To Dresser's credit, he took the money and is sitting well for retirement.

Dresser should have known he was going to have trouble recruiting to ISU. A non existent RTC, below average facilities, an aging fanbase, and too much competition for a limited number of good recruits within a 300 mile radius. VT offered a considerably higher number of high end talent.

Maybe he thought he could coattail TnT's success getting Pennsylvania talent to leave the State. The problem is the Hawks have always been elite. ISU hasn't won a title since 1987 and has only been remotely close a few times since then.

Ayala's a big get. As someone else noted... probably the best in State recruit since Corey Clark.

It's an exciting time to be an Iowa fan.

Elite technician, mentally tough, very mature, and just a winner. Won Fargo like 4 years ago for the first time. He’s been elite for many years and just keeps getting better. High school isn’t even a challenge for him anymore. Kid is for real. Nobody is Spencer Lee elite, but there won’t be a big drop-off from Spencer to Drake. I expect him to be competing for national titles from the word go.

Any concerns about missing on Robbie Howard are long gone.

EDIT: Forgot to comment on weaknesses. I’ll list them here:
Well said. Always enjoy your posts and energy toward the program.

Holy shit! Clone board in meltdown mode... again.

I know the reports are that ISU made Drake's final three, but with no decent training room partners and no legitimate light weight coach... hard to think they were a serious option. I imagine it was a "courtesy" mention because of working out in ISU facilities.

Can't wait to see Drake wrestle against Teske at some point.

It’s been Iowa or fOSU for quite some time now. ISU never had a chance... Ever.

During the first storm delay of the Iowa / ISU game I ran into Metcalf under the stands at Jack Tice. I asked him how the big recruiting weekend was going. Then I made a small joke that that I will make you a deal, you can have Facunda if Ayala ends up in Iowa City. He smiled and said no, im greedy...I want both of them. Then we went our different ways.

Looking back on what an odd day that was with the 2 rain delays but did Metcalf land anyone of the big names that was there that day? I remember Facunda, Enchimedia, Ayala.

Cant remember if Rathjen or Sokol or who else was there but man seems like a big 0'fer

I haven’t seen a report about them being top 3. Seems like wishful thinking.

Yes Rathjen was there. They have literally whiffed on everyone. I don’t know which is in worse shape their wrestling or basketball program as I heard they lost another transfer in hoops today. That is like 3 in 3 days plus their best player will be going pro. What an absolute train wreck. Thank God they are blue blood in football!

Wrestling program is top 15 in the country. #9 this year at NCAAs based on seeds alone. Everyone is willing to give Iowa the title based on seeds, so I guess ISU can claim a top 10 finish.

No defense of recruiting woes, but that is some damn good improvement from where they were. The Dresser era has been far from a train wreck.

It was in one the commitment articles, however I think it was journalistic guessing as it’s the only time I’ve read/heard ISU was there...

Crabby - I was speaking of recruiting at ISU being a wreck. And there was nowhere to go but up. So congrats? And the best wrestler wouldn’t be there without the Dad hire. According to my source it’s called the Carr affect which is part of the reason ISU is getting nobody despite instant starting and full rides being offered. Last, we shall see next year when the new classes are in and the Olympic shirts are back where ISU finishes. So maybe not the wreck of ISU basketball but something is seriously wrong in the recruiting.

Crabby - one other thing. If you think that Gilbert debacle for ISU won’t be used against ISU you are mistaken. Kids in the room working for years taking a knee cause other guys can’t qualify not exactly what recruits want to hear. Especially cause unlike KD’s presser all the back ups were told to forfeit to starters. Bye, bye Drake. Oh and your maggots who never wrestled (Twins) posting on CF on Iowa “ducking” not good to parents. I told you and Buff to stop that crap. You let it happen and kids read it and they and their families know the truth. Maybe another kid from 7-11 will join ISU. Maybe monitor your own board Crabby and Buff and possibly kids and parents will think different about the program. Seriously.

I honestly don’t even know how to respond.

1. I have no responsibility to monitor any board. I also post far more here, so which one is “my” board?
2. You should read this board sometime. I can guarantee you that no parent ever chose between ISU and Iowa and said, you know what HR is a much friendlier place.

You misread. I was saying parent and wrestlers pay attention was all. Crabby - all good. I like your contributions. I was only saying to boards you post on your know what really is the deal. We will take Drake and the rest. Hopefully KD gets a class.

Cryclown Fanatic and CyTwins in particular shows the world exactly what isu is all about. Not all recruits or parents are willing to be a part of that culture.

Assuming you are not an owner or board moderator I agree it isn’t your job to police that board. On the other hand if you don’t think that board portrays what isu, its coaches, fans and administration are all about then your head couldn’t be any further buried in sand.

Long live Cryclown Fanatic.
