Iowa State PBP

We don't know if there was or wasn't. It seems to be a 'either with em or aginst em' mindset. They have taught it and lived it and now those seeds have taken sprout in those wrestlers and they are living that way as well.
yeah, I can buy that last part.

I get everyone trusts TnT, but maybe take a step back and wonder why so many of his best wrestlers have a bad opinion of them. Metcalf, DSJ, Ramos, and Gilman. All iowa to the core and now can't stand them.

You can say it happens because they are in the other side or what ever. But I'm not seeing a lot of that with other teams.
There are far more former wrestlers that still live and breathe black & gold than there aren't. I don't see any complaints coming from Borschel, Clark, or McD, I'd even throw Perry into the mix. Hell, even the massive list of AA's under Brands, most are just fine with the program.

The problem seems to be with the elite of the elite. That once their competitive careers were over they expected a position at the coaching table, then realized no offer was coming and proceeded with the butt hurt.

If Metcalf and DSJ truly think TNT are going to be civil with them when they're across the mat during a rivalry dual JUST because they used to wrestle for them... then they're f*cking stupid. If that's the case, then they truly deserve to be where they're at, licking the leftovers off the palm of our hands.

Ramos and Gilman are Ramos and Gilman. Ramos was so egotistical he falls in line with the ISU clowns. Gilman is just an asshole and will say and do whatever he needs to to get an advantage, loyalty be damned. When his career is done it wouldn't surprise me if he backpedals and tries to make amends with his alma mater.

I imagine DSJ is under a lot of pressure with the lack of production at 165/174 since he arrived.

So he needs to try and impress Dresser in other ways. If ISU continues to suck eggs, I'd expect DSJ will be the scapegoat for KD.

I could very well be off in that evaluation, but St John certainly seems bitter.

It is some changing times we live in. When highly competitive people get a bit emotional and we talk about it like they are the spawn of the devil, it may be time to toughen up and rethink things.

I know my wife recently was asked to apply for a leadership/mentoring program at work. They loved her application and responses to her questions because she was -now get this- "vulnerable".

Since when is being vulnerable a good quality for being a leader. Apparently it is these days. conversely, I guess that means that being tough or determined, holding people accountable or having high expectations are not positive qualities for a leader. Let's face it guys; most of us on this forum are dinosaurs.

I'm not seeing how both of these can't be true or how being vulnerable negates the possibility of being able to hold others accountable and having high expectations.

Pics of your wife or your post doesn't count.

It may be possible and probably is possible to be both. However, when the highlight of the application and essay answers is that she was "vulnerable", it says a lot about society and the current leadership in corporate America. Vulnerable would be pretty low on my list of necessary qualities of a good leader.

Metcalf is Terry jr. in terms of mentality, so its no wonder they butt heads now. DSJ just seems and looks like a whiny turd. Ramos was pissed because TnT brought in a Hawk wresting to the HWC, Gilman is Gilman. Pretty easy to explain IMO.
Plus, how long would DSJ and Metcalf stay in the ISU room if they only spoke praise of TnT? Gilman in the NLWC? Not long I bet. Loyalties had to change if they wanted to get paid imo.

Meh, my experience is that in most situations of corporate leadership or any level of management, any candidate that is worth their weight will have the accountability and meet high expectations, so it isn't a difference maker. Other qualities will set you apart.

i know you’re obsessed with me because i disagreed with your politics a few times a year ago and now you follow me around this board, but i don’t go out of my way to be offended. i wasn’t impressed with the performance yesterday and less impressed with the behavior. there are plenty of others on the board who have said similar things this year. didn’t ruin my day or change my fandom. just hope the hawks repeat this year.
I read this board, you post here, it's not rocket science ("follow me around this board"). LOL!

Breaking news! I've been here a LONG time, and you aren't special when it comes to calling people out I disagree with, not in the least.

If you have something smart to say, I'll agree with it, I assure you.

I prefer sportsmanship at all times, but I only control me. It seems the only people whining about this are hypocrite bleeding heart type fans ( "If only the Brands could act more like me, cause I'm perfect"? LOL!) and those that don't like Iowa regardless. F both groups as far as I'm concerned.

In the history of Hawkeye Report, the only dude who actually posted pics of his wife was that guy 15-20 years ago with the mail order bride whom he made pose for risque photos for forum cred.
I’m glad I wasn’t around here 20 yrs ago. That seems like an odd thing to do.

You are one of my favorite posters here, and yes, you do prefer sportsmanship when you can. Vulnerability is great until someone with bad intent sees it as a sign of weakness. Instead of vulnerability, I would substitute "humanity." I'd prefer not to be vulnerable, but show my humanity instead. It's okay to be human, because we all are.

BTW, I just checked out the Clone forum, and boy are they angry. They make the cesspool look like the kiddie pool right now. Talk about sour grapes. If they really cared, they would send more checks to support wrestling there, and get involved. My guess is all they want to do is bring the Hawks down, not improve. I think that we have higher expections.

CF is dominated by about a dozen posters.

Today and last night saw about 15-20 posters who must have just awaken from a deep sleep.

And they're bringing up all these weird, unfounded rumors/stories about our coaches that have absolutely nothing to do with wrestling.

I call them the "bitter irrelevants".

are you ever not aggrieved about something? of course isu wasn't innocent. their wrestlers were worse behaved on the mat by far. based on dresser's post match comments about punching bullies in the mouth, they came ready to fight last night.

but i don't care about iowa state because i'm not an iowa state fan. i'm a hawkeye fan. the jawing has happened every dual this year. our team is the common denominator. if you want to jaw at the other team for two hours, score some damn points.
I “ignore” almost no one. I found out I was ignoring you a while back as I clicked “show ignored content”. You seemed reasonable in those posts. I thought why would I ignore this poster? Thanks for reminding me.

They were pretty triggered. They just lost a heated match, so it's understandable.

Nailed it. BM left VT to follow Brands to Iowa, gave up a year of eligibility to be at Iowa and wrestle for him, and completed his collegiate career wrestling for Brands. Could've transferred out at any time, didn't. Seems to me he was ok with the guys coaching him.

That's the strange part from ISU fans.

Did they actually expect to win or are they just pissed off about how ISU lost? I think they're butt hurt about the Hawks kinda rubbing their faces in it. Terry is a little more animated when Nelson wrestles, for sure. And I think the entire team knows how Metcalf and DSJ feel about not being in Black and Gold.

Maybe it just rekindles the bad feelings from losing Dan Gable to Iowa back in the day?

Regardless, the Clones need to refocus for the big dual coming up against that juco team. Or is it NAIA?

And they don't know their own story. The ISU program was not always filled with choir boys, and I'll guess that Iowa's program hasn't always been either. Right now, we have a good team with decent guys.

Of note...why is Iowa vs ISU considered a rivalry?

Rivalries typically are contested with the winner in doubt.

The only question when the Hawks wrestle the Clones is the final score.

So the gatekeepers of class are mocking Tom Brands' teenage son for having the nerve to be into theater and the arts, and going after Alex Marinelli's wife.

He still on here? About time for a repost.
Not sure. I believe he lived in Florida. It was the football forums and every week he'd have her posing in a different bikini wearing a Hawkeye football helmet or something along those lines. Whoever Iowa's opponent was, he'd somehow incorporate their mascot in the photo. I think she might have been from the Philippines.
