*****Iowa vs Penn St Game Thread*****

What does PMac give us. Great kid but his confidence looks shot, no toughness, ok shooter when things are going good.
He looks lost out there but not as much as Sandford.

Well, the Hawks - especially Kris - showed some fight in the 2nd half and came close. Better than the last 2 games.

But ending the first half down 18 and still losing is just that. Still losing.

Because it’s not an illegal motion. It’s been called every time besides today. The refs F’d up that.

And every time he’s hit the repeat attempt too.

yes, the lane violation is a violation. The hesitation/herky jerky motion that CMAC does is drawing lane violations and allowing him to miss and get a 2nd shot....except for today.

PMac bring us absolutely nothing. Sandfort neither. CMac is serviceable. I hope Dix is okay and Fran gets a clue and plays him a lot more...

These guys are idiots.

Perkins is the sole reason that ball got stolen.

-Got impatient and took off before Murray could show/set the screen

-Murray then had to bounce up at a bad angle which took his defender right into the passing lane

-And then the cardinal sin of turnovers, Perkins not coming to a jump stop and just blindly turning off balance to make the quick kick out without "seeing the floor" and is surprised to see the PSU defender right there for the steal.

If he just comes to a jump stop, and he had plenty of time, then the only reason that ball gets stolen is because he makes a sloppy pass (as opposed to being off balance and making a blind sloppy pass), but at that point, it isn't very likely as Murray or somebody else would've gotten open for some kind of shot

Lmao at them giving all the credit to Lundy for that play.

WRONG
Kris brought his guy right into perkins blind spot.

you teach pee wee players NOT to run to the ball and allow your guy to double team

That may have been a drawn Fran play, Perkins dribble into the lane and option to shoot or kick it out for 3pt shot to Kris.

Losing because we didn't even get a shot off is what Iowa fans expect---some form of a nut punch to lose.
That evens out the Bank 3 that JBO made vs Indiana in BTT.

When you get down 18 pts and spend most of the game getting soundly beat, there are a lot of plays and ref calls that could have been done differently to change the outcome. Chit happens....Perkins has won some games last year with his play. The big problem is the starting lineup doesn't play very good defense and their offense is not very good, outside of Murray.

Ulis is a 4 year bench rider at any other program.
Yes, he is. Bowen at least broke down the defense. He still doesn't know what to do once he does but it's better than Ulis floating around and chucking errant 3-balls. Bowen had one more assist in far less minutes tonight.

The more minutes Ulis (1 for 6 & 3 assists), PMac (1 for 6 & 2 rebounds) and Sandfort (0 for 3) play the less chance Iowa has to win a game. I am amazed McCaffery had such lousy game plan to contain Pickett. Never mind, McCaffery would have to watch film and be concerned about defense.

I will give credit to the players for not tanking at half time.

Respectfully saying there was no TO called to set up a play.

IOWA expected them to make those FT,
IOWA had no plan if they missed the FT.
IOWA Coach did absence of coaching and did nothing.

Might help if Payton can make his first shot against big ten competition Shon Morris was right he is aiming his shot

100% agree, that’s what a good coach would do
This is one of those Fran stubborn beliefs that have a mountain of evidence that they don't work.

He has always said he believes it gives the defense an advantage and yet his teams almost never end up getting a good look on those end of game situations.

Its crazy that he won't change after so many failed attempts.

Well.....upset and pissed like a lot of folks. Was going to give up watching earlier in the game and glad I didn't. Like 23 said,,,,saw the fight and just glad to see this at this point in the season, on the road and against a very salty PSU team.

Let's face some things.......Kris is still playing hurt. He does not look OK with that foot and is favoring/limping. It's got to hurt and remarkable we got 32 out of him, my goodness. Don't know either if Connor and Ulis are 100%? And a lot of folks have already said......the team is lacking talent, size and depth...not good. And wth is wrong with Sandfort? Is it 0-17 now from the 3 line....never did I ever expect this from him.....never. I was expecting double digit scoring and much better floor play from the kid......it's not all him, there are others but, his lack of production and 3- point shooting is now more than a head scratcher for sure and it hurts the team.

Last....the Wisky home loss hurts the most and w/o a healthy Kris and Ulis...friggin road games in the B1G are brutal.....a very good 11-4 Maryland team loses to a team playing like Iowa, at Michigan by 35.....UM is now 8-5.

It is what it is....but again, nice fight on the road tonight.
