You can’t argue with the results though. He had I believe 5 qualifiers in the 165 bracket this year, along with a number of other qualifiers. Plus, he had three of his academy guys in the finals tonight. That is success.

I think that is a lot of it. When was the last time he was pushed in a college match though? It’s been a minute.
I thought David Carr beating Mesenbrink last year was an upset. Dake over Taylor probably if a four timer can be considered an upset. RBY getting demolished was an upset, but the loss itself probably a toss up. Usually if their top seeds do lose, it's before they ever make the finals (Davis, Lilledahl, Kasak the last two years).

In other news, Cylones got all the way to 27th place. They were able to take over Cal Poly, N Colorado and Wisconsin by 1/2 point to get there. Is this what they meant by being all in or is that next year again?
Yeah but Spratley was there last year too. Hamiti beat a 2x champ and Hendrickson beat freaking Gable.
2 one year extremely talented rentals don’t prove shit. Now if he could have improved Plott after personally working with him for months, I would have been impressed. He’s going to get his success the same way Cael did, but using his name and a big check book to stack his line up with can’t miss talent.

If Spratley and Hamiti were at Iowa they would be right there aswell. And Wyatt would be the clear #2 in the nation. Wyatt said in an interview, this is the best his health has been in a long time.

DT deserves credit for his transfer wins just as Brands deserves credit for his transfer win. We can’t take credit for Buchanan and then say DT doesn’t get credit.
Point is they have definitely improved. And Taylor gets that credit. Whether they would have improved at Iowa is irrelevant because they aren’t here.
