Dumb? Stupid take. Rathjen had a nice attack, didn't get the finish from the trip and then wasn't athletic enough in the scramble. Nice counter by WIlliams to get the cradle simple as that. Some of you "Hawk fans" are so nauseating.
Will Lewan with a td in the 2nd period! Has to be a record. Granted off opponents shot but I don't think I've ever seen him get a td before 3rd/ot.
Yeah, he wasn't bad. Williams is ultra talented. The key exchange was the single on the edge in the third. Terrible awareness by Rathjen to give that up so quickly with the ill advised (and illegal) cutback attempt.
I thought he did a nice job with his finishes until the very last second. Missed the ankle on the desperation roll from Williams and then rushed his finish from there. I don't think it's fair to make 1 match a referendum.
He gave up a leg three times and that isn’t even how he lost. Not good.
We need to invest in athletes. We are so far behind in that regard it's embarrassing.
Rathjen actually has a real good path to the blood round. Don't see him beating swiderski there tho
I just lost my Will Lewan o/u total takedowns at .5 bet. Brutal.
Need some big bonus stuff out of Franek and Calliendo. Lots of high seeds escaping with close wins.
FWIW, Williams totally outwrestled Swiderski at Big 12's before he got hurt. I don't hate that match up for Rathjen and Swiderski barely survived r1.
You're right. I love his wrestleback path.
It is so obvious the hawks are not known for being all around athletes. The bruiser beat you in a phone booth type is not what’s needed.
I will settle for Franek just getting by Blaze. That's not a gimme.

Most of what I've seen from him is counter wrestling and unorthodox scrambles that sometimes go his way, sometimes now. Unfortunately not a great winning formula at nationals.
You would think in a year where we're not even close to contention would delay the board overreaction/meltdown, but all it took was a 13 seed losing to a guy half the country would have picked to win that match anyway lol.

He certainly doesn’t look like the overall #1 recruit in his class to this point in his career.
Blaze out. 1-1. Blaze does have a stall. Franek in deep. But Blaze locks the crotch and they finally go stalemate.
