Why would a true freshman that turned 21 within a week after NCAA finals need a redshirt? What a wild statement.

Beating an NCAA finalist is pretty good in my book.

Chittum is a talented guy who has some things to put together before he can be considered a great folkstyler.
I think Chittum will have a career like Kennedy.

Your definition of Chittum could refer to dozens of guys.
He beat Teemer, but had a few "WTF" losses.

It sure seems like no major program is willing to take a gamble on him. And I’m not sure his ego will allow him to go to a small school.

I’m also assuming there’s a reason why he’s not already going MMA. My experience with other guys like him tells me he’s probably not great at taking a punch.

I’m really curious what his plan C would be.
I can name one a few hours west of IC, lol.

I'll pat you on top of your head if I ever meet you!

The win over Teemer looks like the exception and not the rule in his matchups against top guys.
But whatever...we're straying from the topic.
His match with Franek came down to the last tenth of a second if you recall. The kid is talented, he just needs to put more time and attention on folkstyle.

Here are the #s per weight for Iowa since wrestling was invented in 2010. These are just placement points at NCAAs:

125: 136
133: 117
141: 57
149: 63
157: 74
165: 21 (ouch)
174: 79
184: 38
197: 55
H: 57

Iowa State's best weight by far during that time period is 197 with 67. Their Heavys got 26.
165 can't be right. That must not include the 4 years of 4 time Big10 champ Alex Marinelli.

Although they obviously get smoked by PSU either way, using just placement points at 165 ignores a lot and makes it look like they scored no points at all or DNQ’d a bunch. (Which also must not include 2024, where it would bump to 30) with that said, Marinelli was 17 of those 21 points over that span. Morningstar was the only other placer taking 7th.

2010-Morningstar took 7th and scored 6.5.
2011-Jannsen was R12 and scored 3.
2012-Evans went 1-2 and scored 1.
2013-Moore went 1-2 and scored 2.5.
2014-Moore went 2-2 and scored 2.
2015-Moore went 0-2 and scored 0.
2016-Rhoads went 0-2 and scored 0.
2017-Gunther went 2-2 and scored 1
2018-Marinelli took 6th and scored 13
2019-Marinelli took 7th and scored 7.5
2020-Covid
2021-Marinelli was R12 and scored 4
2022-Marinelli took 5th and scored 12
2023-Kennedy went 2-2 and scored 1.5
2024-Caliendo took 4th and scored 15.

I'm working on getting all the points put together into a workable database. On that note: @smalls103
Trackwrestling has NCAA brackets going back to 2000 but the stats are missing from 2000 to 2011. I'm pretty sure you know someone who could check into that. Hopefully the stats are there but just not posted.

Wrestlestats.com is an excellent resource. For what I'm trying to do, I need trackwrestling style individual wrestler team point data.
I know it definitely adds more work, but wrestlingstats.com may be the only/best avenue for you to get the info you need. Now, you may need to calculate the scoring yourself for the years you can't find any reliable sources that have already calculated and listed them.

It may be less than ideal, but wrestlingstats.com definitely provides you with everything you need to do so...
