Exactly. He shouldn't have been within 20 yards of the ball at that point. Complete breakdown in situational awareness.
Iowa's defense has been owning the Badgers since they gave up the first touchdown, so sad to see such a bone head play to take away from otherwise has been really good d. That is what happens when you don't catch the punt.

Right on cue for big time games against ranked opponents. Gotta keep everything close to the best no matter if we have to be the ones to shoot ourselves in the foot to keep it that way.........
Its easier to not touch the ball on the punt than take a risk now that we've muffed TWO in the same game!!
Seriously, watch the Iowa punt team if the ball hits the ground. They never get away. hell, 2 guys got close to that ball before Beyer made that mistake.

What needs to happen is the ST coach talk with the unit about recognizing their FIRE call to abandon the play/vicinity............and not keeping shuffling your feet to look like you're blocking like a f***ing maroon.
