PBP?

He looks pretty dedicated to me. If he wins, he is going to eat sleep and breath it. Would still have to qualify his spot
I was under the impression that he's spending much of his time training for mma, not wrestling but maybe I'm wrong.

Well if that's true, would hate to see him totally dedicated to wrestling. He's a terror. I think his life consists of boxing and wrestling. Boxing still prepares him for wrestling.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. If that is true and he's not training 100 percent on wrestling then imagine how good he could be totally focused on one sport. Like I said, maybe I'm wrong but I could have sworn I read an article somewhere that has had him training on martial arts. If that's correct, I'm thinking this weight may have already been qualified with a dedicated Pico in the mix.

I agree unfortunately somewhere deep down in their troll lair an image is being cropped and a meme created.
If true it's pretty shitty in my opinion. This is about country not the university these guys attended. I feel bad for Metcalf today...

I am somewhat in disbelief as well right now. Metcalf has just become very defensive which is not his best strength. He has gotten away from attack, attack, attack. Pico wrestles like Metcalf used to. BM also seems somewhat better suited for folkstyle than freestyle IMO, although he did have a really good run. Great Hawkeye and American wrestler. I think he is done though. Rooting for Pico to take charge and go for the gold.

Why wrestle consols in the Olympic trials? I have to think that the guys are emotionally spent after getting knocked out of the main draw. Seems different in kind and degree than the NCAAs or even the US Open, where placing the top 8 finishes seems to have more relevance and meaning.

Placing at a certain level gives a special distinction and access to certain benefits, IIRC.

Top 3 still part of the team with training and stipends. Sponsors probably appreciate you getting your hand raised. Injuries happen so you could be a tweaked ankle/knee away from the Olympics. There are reasons to wrestle the backside.

If Metcalf is truly done it would have been cool to see him do what Mango did today leaving the shoes in the middle in CHA for a last round of appreciation from the not only the home fans but wrestling fans in general.

I don't think he went to any of them. Plus, he's been a boxer almost as long as a wrestler. It's part of his everyday life. He has been beating senior level guys since he was 15 and you can see his progression. He has the most international experience of anybody not named Metcalf at 65. Root for Frank because you are a PSU guy but Pico has the best chance at getting it done.

PBS,

As cool as that would be, Metcalf just isn't that kind of guy. He has still fallen short of his goals and leaving his shoes on the mat wouldn't be a thought in his mind. I just don't see any way that he would be thinking about doing so if he lost. He just isn't wired that way.

I thought the same thing. He was there to win not retire. Just saying if is the end of the road it would have cool to give him the appreciation send off. I don't think he's given any thought to the end of his career happening before Rio.

Give us a rundown. Did Green gas? Where was he's awesome double?
Sorry, just saw this question. Green started with a double and from there, it was all Zain. Green gassed midway through the second and got pushed out twice without much resistance. Curiously, Green allowed Zain to tie him up all match, when Green is better in space.

Zain just beat Kennedy for 3rd. 2-2 on criteria. I have to say that I did not expect this from Zain even though he was a world cadet champion. I guess he and Pico are the future at this weight in 2020.

Been working so who is in the finals against Pico ?

Also feel so sad for Metcalf. Hang your head high Brent u gave us Hawk fans lots to cheer about for 3 years and u represented the USA very well also...What ever u decide to do next wish you all the best. Know u will be successful in what ever you choose. I'm selfish but hope u decide to coach and in the future you be the next head coach at Iowa.

Molinaro

Again...what did Brent do in the last two or so minutes? Nothing other than push. It was a close match and Brent has no offense down the stretch.
Come on, really? He is typically the guy who scores late and often. No, not today. I think he was apprehensive for whatever the reason, maybe the match in Yarygin where he went big and got his arm trapped and turned for the tech?

But back to my original comment, I didn't say Brent tore it up but he was looking for angles and two times Frank was backing up and the 2 point move fell into his lap. Heck he was put on the clock two times. That is Frank's game keep it close when you wrestle someone better. It worked out this time. I think Brent needed to open it all up and go for broke every time. I do not think Frank has that gear and hope AP destroys him tonight.

Thanks for the name drop. Molinaro grabbing his crotch is definitely a stretch to bring in the Sanderson reference. One guy is 2 feet taller than the other and swinging from his nethers would at least be a possibility. But they are both PSU guys so I guess it's ok....
