Recruiting

You just compared Iowa to a team that's won one national title ever, and with a coach not nearly as celebrated as Tom Brands. There is no one on this board who could have ever conceived back in 2006 that Tom Brands and Tom Ryan would have the same success the last 17 years.
could someone PLEASE tell us how many National titles and Individual National titles that PSU has won under Carl ?? I am pretty sure we have NEVER had those numbers posted before or sang the praise of " we are" in the Halls of Valhalla ... ( No Windows in Valhalla either ).......... PLEASE NOTE... This is SARCASM and we really don't need those figures at this time

Don’t be obtuse. The comparison was only to NCAA Champions.
Tom Brands has had more success overall.
Brands 100 AA’s Ryan 73
Dual record Brands .912 wp Ryan .758
Dual Big Ten Brands .914 Ryan .703

On Paper OSU has out recruited Iowa since 2019. They had the #1 recruiting class in ‘19 and ‘22. The last time they placed higher than Iowa at NCAA was 2019.

While it’s frustrating as hell to not see our guys at the top of the podium, I get tired of hearing about it.
We keep hearing how bad Brands is at recruiting, yet no other team outside of PSU consistently finishes higher than Iowa at NCAA’s.

This is not a dig against Tom Ryan simply a comparison. I earnestly hope Ryan is recovering from his car accident and hope to see him in the corner this year.

For me the frustration isn't with the results it's with the wonder how good Iowa could be if the high school recruiting was up to par with the transfer recruiting.

I won’t disagree. I’d like to know how we would have done with guys we’ve missed that went to OSU. At this point in their careers Bouzakis and Paddy have not lived up to expectations. Mendez, Welsh and Feldman have. ( I don’t remember if we had a shot at Welsh or Feldman). We lost 2 #1 recruits and Chittum wouldn’t have our starting lineup last year or this year.

Chittum is a freshman and still has a lot of wrestling ahead of him. Actually, all these guys do. I wouldn't count judge their talent yet, at this point. One year of Franek or 4 years of Chittum is the real calculus - and that doesn't necessarily sit well for us yet.

We did get Caliendo as well so put that in the mix. I didn’t want to lose Chittum and still don’t believe he’d be at ISU had the decision been his alone.

TNT have been highly criticized for 2 things: lack of developing title contenders and recruiting blue chippers. I can only imagine the size of stones thrown at TNT if Bouzakis, Paddy and Chittum were all Hawks — which almost happened.

Reading what is important to Bo, I hope the push the religious part of the program. I thing there are many guys that are part of a fellowship. Push the comaraderie of the team and and high character expectations. Finally, I hope like hell Tom is the one to go and if allowed they take Spencer. I saw that it was Smith from Missouri and not an assistant coach. We send an assistant and we can kiss whatever small chance we have of getting him away.

I would expect Tom to act in the same manner as he did with Spencer and Kem Dawg, if it comes to that. With this being said, he won’t have to an all night drive to fix what Kem had going on his mind.

I think Iowa basically chose Arnold over Welsh. Those two had some great battles a few years ago.

I would be shocked if it wasn't Tom who does a home visit with Bo. Honestly it should probably be Tom and Terry.

He was in ft. Dodge the day before
They damn well better have not started having F#& at Sebolt... they over work their kids and then they make them push loaded coal carts out of the mines and work in textile factories during the days when not at the wrestling facility.... those poor sebolt kids

That video confirms what some of us have been saying all along — Bo is not going to psu. It’s not the right fit and maybe mutual.

Interesting the tactic DT took and Bo didn’t care for it very much.

A lot can still happen but at this point gotta like the chances of his coach being Tom.

Anyone care to provide bullet points for those of us lazy people who don't want to watch a 40-min video? Thanks in advance--I may watch when I have time, but curious in the meantime.

Iowa called both Jax & Bo on the first night. They were excited to hear from Tom. OK State and PSU both did not reach out the first night.

No inside info just a gut feeling. I think Bo ends up at Iowa. My reasons for thinking this are simple. The Iowa Brand, Market, Fanbase, ect… it’s the Mecca of wrestling. Spencer Lee. The Brands Brothers. Young Guns/Strittmatter. His style is relentless and fits the mold. He wants to leave his mark on a program. What better way to stamp his legacy than to bring Iowa back to the top while becoming the first and only 4X national champ in program history.

It just makes too much damn sense.
