Steveson

It would be a very wise move for Stevenson to come to IOWA. He would instantly build his brand/name! Winning another NC and gold obviously big but IF he could help bring a team championship, well HAWK NATION would explode!!!

Seems to be a no brainer for both sides? Guess we see how it plays out?

If Gable comes and they add AJ in January they will definitely need a roofer on call

Exactly. Building a brand in IC while competing for TITLES and raking in some pocket change in the process. There will be documentaries….

Theoretically, he could give up football.
or theoretically he could be a first round NFL pick in three years

I’m guessing Iowa football won’t redshirt him if he can help on special teams….. they haven’t been redshirting kids like they used to with kids ready to contribute cause they leave early anyway for draft

I would assume he has a special plan of progression through both programs if he really wants to compete at the highest level of both sports….. pretty unique situation

Well they can play him early w/o using his shirt.

Not trolling but, really?

1) BTW, who is Stevenson?

2) the Delta of Gable's points vs Cassi is not large and still leaves you about 40 short of a team NC threat. He will win a personal NC training in his basement, let alone tied to any specific program.

3). His ultimate goal this 12 months cycle is the Olympics. The "very wise" choice is what program gives him the best shot at preparing for Olympic Gold next year? Crickets....

IMO, the only thing that brings him to Iowa is; if Cassi is out for the year due to gambling, and the deep pockets set a national record for NIL $$$. It's anyone's guess if Gable is financially motivated on this front.

Does anyone know what AJs walking around weight is these days? Rumors of 225ish+?

Just my lowly opinions:

1). You will get AJ, probably in time and eligible for this season or second half.
2). 197 is in AJs rear view mirror, interesting potential debate ahead AJ vs Cassi vs Keuter
3). By 2024/25 Keuter is 100% football

well shit….. thanks for laying that all out

glad that’s all settled!

Steveson landing at Iowa next year makes too much sense. The PSU bed wettings will continue.

Where’s the Ferrari flex emoji when you need it?

AJ said in an interview about his possible mma career, that he could go whatever weight class is upper 180’s , but would be a tough cut. So 197 not totally out of question.

If you play football in the fall and then Oly redshirt wouldn’t you still lose a year of eligibility. Can you shirt in 1 sport and not the other?!

Caliendo looks big for 165, maybe he bumps to 174 for a year. If we get AJ, Assad’s career is over after 1st semester.
Assad has another year after this year . Also he has an Olympic RS he could use this year if he wanted he was Cadet Bronze in 2018. He has a regular RS available as well

So he only used a medical red shirt? Listed as senior, but has Covid year also?

So you're saying 3 more years of the Abe Assad show?

I’m not sure this is true. My understanding of the eligibility rules is that 2021 essentially doesn‘t count. But Abe wrestled 2020, 2022 and 2023 so he has one more year of eligibility whether it be 2024, 2025 or 2026.

Ayala
Teske/ Cullan
Woods
Voinovich/ Cobe/ Rathjen
Franek
Caliendo
Kennedy
Brands/Assad
AJ ( maybe Assad 197 1st semester)
Gable

Look at all those name! lol

Pretty much a completely different team.

I know very little about three of them. Hard to keep up.

Did he ever use his regular redshirt year?

Of course he can. As long as the suspension isn’t for a full season of eligibility, the redshirt is still in play. If he is suspended for that long his career is over either way…
this is not accurate, the way i understand it.

suspensions are not for a particular season, but for a portion of your four years of eligibility.

i could be wrong, but i don't believe you can redshirt your way out of avoiding loss of season (or portions of it)

I don't think he was suggesting you could redshirt your way out of the potential penalty. If the suspension is for loss of a full year of eligibility, he's done no matter what. But if it's a partial suspension, couldn't he still take an Olympic Redshirt and then serve the eligibility suspension when he's back the following year?

If it's just for a portion of your eligibility, then the same portion that would be affected, would still be affected after the redshirt, no? Or would he be 'forced' to serve the suspension immediately by the NCAA, thus eliminating the possibility of redshirting?
