Ben VanSumeren to Michigan

Next young man up that wants to be a Hawkeye and wonder if the Hawks go after the Juco linebacker that plays with Honas.

Good luck with that sunshine. 3 stars at Michigan. Enjoy your transfer to Akron in two years.

Wasn't exactly unexpected. Apparent he wasn't all in on Iowa. Good luck to him in his future endeavors.

Had a hard time picturing him playing for Iowa. Good luck to him.

Can't blame him, grew up a Michigan fan. It's easy to bash a kid who's committed and then leaves for an opportunity that's better for him but this is the way it works these days.

He wasn’t even the best linebacker or athlete in the state of Michigan, he was good, don’t get me wrong but there’s still a lot of good athletes out there better than this kid Iowa can get. Honestly I’m more disappointed about Stepp and he did it the “right” way and never committed to Iowa in the first place.

Difference in mentality today. Early in my career I took a new job then the company I worked for offered me more money to stay. I had made a verbal commitment so told them no. Without integrity you have nothing.

Harbaugh is such a tool, not the first time he has poached a Hawk commit. Garber head coach and the principal are what's wrong with our society, they had to get in the lime light. I've lived in Michigan for 15 years, glad to say I am moving. Good to get away from Michigan fans, MSU fans are humble and fun to tailgate with, Michigan fans are arrogant winner followers, flags go down when they lose.

Sarcasm font. BVS was a good athlete, but there are hundreds of kids with his size/speed ratio. We just need Honas and one more.
Assuming this is sarcasm. If not u r a total tard
Yes, it was a joke. Sorry if that wasn't clear. I haven't LOVED any of his previous classes. I've loved some of the individual players in them, obviously, but didn't LOVE them as a whole. I LOVE the 2018 class so far and hope we continue the recruiting momentum into 2019 and beyond

I understand a kid growing up a fan of the local team and can't turn it down. What I don't understand is a kid like the receiver from Iowa City that said he grew up a Hawk fan and jumping at the offer from Michigan or the kid from Cedar Falls that jumped on the offer from Alabama. These are two upper programs but if I grew up a Hawk it wouldn't matter.

Did you spend your entire childhood dreaming of working for either company?

If I'm an elite WR recruit who hopes to play on Sundays, there's no way I'm going to Iowa, regardless if I grew up a fan.

It is what it is, but I am getting sick of Harbaugh coming in during the final week or two and offering Iowa commits. Harbaugh is a real slime ball.

Well in a way it's pretty flattering and no I don't care for Jimmy nor have I thought he is the be-all, end-all coach that many of the guys on here have.

But honestly Michigan only recruits marginally better than us based on players in the NFL. In fact we've been very close with them over the last 15 years as far as NFL alumni, past them typically and this just goes further proving they like how we evaluate talent. It will be OK.

I'll tell you this Iowa has a pretty good track record of "identifying" a position and if they really thought he was an outside linebacker then I'm going to assume that's what he was. If he goes to Michigan screws around for a couple years trying to be a TE and then position switches, he'll be behind the eight ball.

And honestly Nixon didn't switch to Alabama, Johnson doesn't appear to have switched to LSU, Petras did switch...we were due.

We will no doubt sign a two star linebacker to replace him. Great!

You got something against two star linebackers?
