Charlie Moore

Why don't we wait and see if IA is Moore's 5th and final OV before we pack it in? I still can't believe we go from Moore's top 1-2, by most accounts, to not getting an official while places like Cal, Pitt, and Memphis come out of nowhere. I just can't buy that yet.

While it could be total lip service that he loves IA, he wants to play with Cook, he wants to play/start right away, etc; it's possible those comments are sincere and IA gets the final OV. After that, who knows?

Love your optimism, skydog. What is said in the media however; is often MUCH different from what's actually happening behind the scenes. I do however, hope you are right.

So true. What's happening outside public consumption could very well be much different. Here's hoping...

Cal lost their point guard so Charlie would get to play early. Cal wasn't even looking at him until he blew up in Vegas. Fran is so good at identifying talent. He offered this kid before anybody even considered him. Disappointing Charlie doesn't consider Iowa an elite opportunity. We'll be fine without him but would have been better with.

he is looking for more badge value

Not sure when Fran is going to be able to come out from under the shadow of the years of lousy Iowa basketball before he became coach. You never know with kids, but Fran seems to still be struggling to close when recruits have long drawn out recruiting decisions, especially if their stock is rising during that period. Recruits seem to like what the hear about Iowa basketball, but if they don't decide fairly quickly, they get wowed when schools with more recognized success come calling. Moore might not be gone yet, but it sure sounds like Iowa has moved backwards in his list of favorites.

It's really rare to see an elite recruit sign with a team that he didn't take an official visit to. Especially when they have the whole, "Not sure who will get my last visit" thing. Nothing sounds promising with Moore. If the reports are close to true, it may be time to move on from him now so you don't lose out on someone else.

Hard to believe that a kid that had an excellent visit 6 weeks ago now is out of the picture. I feel Charlie is going to Illinois.

Was hoping for that lightening quick guard but looks like we'll miss out again this year.

Will Fran move on to Bohannon or wait awhile? Early in the process so who knows.

A Cook commit down the road would still bring a smile to my face.

He's already moved on. Confirmation coming soon.

If we can't get Moore, I hope we hold on to scholarship until spring there will always be transfers and high schoolers that fly under the radar. I think Fran has some point guard options until the best fit comes along.

Moore=punk, im sick of these guys that think they're toooo good for the hawks. Thanks for wasting frans time.
Safe to assume the Simpson ship has sailed as well? I don't understand wtf is missing for some of these guys. Fran's getting solid recruits, just can't find that dynamic pg. We have a starting spot open, identified guys under the radar early, showed the love and they just bail for programs that are certainly not head and shoulders above us. I'm honestly baffled by this.

I truly believe they are being negative recruited by other programs regarding playing time/splitting time

Dang it. We're going to settle for Bohannon and miss that something special until Connor gets here. And he's not a sure thing - although I'm pretty confident about him.

Sigh.

This is a really big loss in my book. A point guard in the variety of Charlie Moore is what Iowa is missing right now.

Yep. While Mike has been a serviceable PG he hasn't been the difference maker at the position that Iowa needs to regularly compete with the top of the Big Ten. Bohannon isn't going to even be as good as Mike, at least not right away. Not sure how Fran has whiffed on landing a dynamic PG, a piece critical to what he wants to do, when a 4 year starting opportunity is right there.

Since you're able to see the future, can I get the lottery numbers for tonight?
How many times have you seen any of these kids play that you have these evaluations?

Mike is not what has kept us from "competing" with the top of the Big Ten.He is a very good point guard who has not had good shooters around him. This is the first year he is going to have multiple guys that I consider good shooters. He is going to have a huge year, and it isn't because he improved so much.

Good news, supposedly down to us and Florida for Cook? Take that with a grain of salt though. I predict we finish 2nd.

Doyou have a link to that? By the way, when did FL enter the picture? I thought it was down to Iowa, Mizzou and a couple of middle of the pack schools.
