Iowa Baseball @ Michigan State

Iowa travels to East Lansing for a big B1G series. Iowa is 9-6 in the conference and tied with three other teams at the mark. They are 1/2 game out of 2nd and 2 1/2 out of 1st. Iowa holds the tie breaker over Purdue who is also 9-6. Iowa does not face Minnesota or Michigan in B1G play. Michigan State is 7-8 in the conference and in 8th, which would make them the last team to qualify for the B1G tournament. Rutgers is 5-7 and Northwestern is 6-9 as the first two teams on the outside.

This will be a tough series for Iowa as MSU is decent and Iowa hasn't exactly been great on the road.

Iowa beats Michigan State 3-2 today. Iowa only had two hits headed into the 9th inning. It was a 2-2 game. Iowa then got an Adams single, Neustrom double, and Cropley single to take a one run lead and the final score.
-Mason McCoy 1-4 with a solo HR
-Tyler Cropley 2-3 with an RBI
-Jake Adams 1-2

Iowa's pitching scattered 10 hits for MSU, but limited damage.
-Nick Gallagher 7 IP, 9 H, 1 ER, 1 walk, 6 K's
-Josh Martsching 2 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 1 K - gets credited with the W

This was a big win for Iowa, especially considering we had two hits headed into the 9th.

Iowa loses to MSU 2-1 today. Iowa got another quality outing from Ryan Erickson, but couldn't take advantage as Iowa only managed five hits again today. Zach Daniels gets tagged with the loss, but MSU's go ahead run in the 8th was aided by an E4.

-Zach Daniels 1 IP, 1 H, 1 run (unearned), 1 walk, 1 K

Offensively...Iowa had the bases loaded in the 5th with two outs but could not get the big hit.

-Mitchell Boe was 1-3
-Mason McCoy was 1-4 with a run
-Grant Judkins was 1-4

Iowa is 28-17 and 10-7 in the B1G now. Need to find a way to bounce back on Sunday despite the pitching situation. Need the offense to get going, it has really been lacking this whole week.

Drayton McLane donated a few million during their last ownership. At the time, he also owned the Houston Astros and is responsible for the former Tal's Hill at Minute Maid Park. It's a super short porch to right field in East Lansing.

-Jake Adams 3-5 with 2 RBIs, 2 doubles
-Mason McCoy 2-4 with 1 RBI, 4 runs
-Tyler Cropley 2-4 with 4 RBIs
-Mitch Boe was 2-3

Several other plays got on base and contributed offensively as well.

Iowa's pitching was OK, they did give up some hits and runs in the middle-ish innings. However, they were able to get it done.

Iowa hosts Ohio State next weekend in Iowa City. I encourage as many people that can to get out there because in addition to our seniors it could be the last time we see Nick Gallagher and Jake Adams in Iowa City. I hope not, but I am a realist.
