The most under appreciated player under Fran. Iowa’s D efficiency under Fran was at its best woodys junior and senior year. He had limitations on offense for sure, but was a nice 4 year starter.

Woodbury was great on defense.
It also helped having guards like Gesell and Clemmons that were good defenders.
Being a top 75 recruit on a team lacking quality big guys pretty amazed he’s gotten little playing time in his first 2 games so far. Part of it could be takes big guys little more time to adjust to the college game and live up to the hype. Or he’s another case of a guy being over rated because of potential & feasting off lesser competition in HS.
If I’m not mistaken I don’t think he ever played top notch AAU ball did he? You can play anywhere during the high school season but these guys prove their worth in the Summer against other top guys. Don’t really remember him ever squaring off much against many other top 100 guys in AAU. Correct me if I’m wrong.
What is the general sentiment of the ISU fanbase on your coach?
Right now, I'd say people like him and want him to succeed, but don't think he will.
I don't know you can call what Murray has done so far as "major", but after two games, I feel confident in saying he'll be a 'significant' contributor, which I'm guessing NONE of us would've predicted considering our roster. It's fabulous to see, and icing on the cake, so hopefully it continues, but so far (and yes, I get it's two games) he's outpacing the 5-star.
I agree here. That's generally what I'm seeing and hearing. That said the longer the losing goes on, the more people will just start disliking him on a visceral level.
On Foster, he was hurt early in practice with a concussion and missed a bunch of time. Just my opinion but he should absolutely be playing over Conditt.
This year will be a truly awful year if I had any guesses. Next year, if they can hang on to Hinson and add Hunter I think that's a talent bump I think could make them good enough to be a bubble team but we'll see.
I don't know that your premise is accurate, but I would think a lot of high 4 star big men are going to teams that are already good and don't need them to produce right away. That certainly isn't the case with Foster and I would bet most of your fans were expecting him to shine in the games played so far.
Woody didn't offer much on the offensive end, but he was a very solid defender to have in the middle. Despite not being much of a classic rim protecting big man given his relatively short wingspan and limited elevation, he knew where he needed to position himself. He also knew where his teammates should be and did a good job quarterbacking the defense from that center position.
Foster thinks he is Kevin Durrant. He didn’t want to bang around or crash the boards in 3A Iowa high school. I seriously doubt he has the stomach to mix it up in power 5.

I don't think Fred would come back to ISU as basketball coach. AD, maybe.
As for Foster, are we not talking about a kid who played 3A basketball, mostly away from the basket, and who suffered a concussion a few weeks ago and missed a bunch of practice time? Even before the injury, I never heard anybody from ISU speculate that he would be a starter. Foster, himself, said he hoped he would be able to come off the bench and contribute in some situations.
Don't get me wrong. I know nothing about him and I am not a student of basketball.
I checked around to see what some of the other 5 star recruits are doing. The vast majority are major contributors to their team. Some are team leaders in terms of personal stats. I believe Caitlen Clark was a 5 star. She seems to be fitting in nicely.
This is a free year. No need to redshirt anyone. Now, does he need to redshirt in an upcoming year? Maybe.
I think he got tired of the Ames cops calling him at 3 AM and informing him that another one of his players was in trouble.

You think? You're probably right but X Boy strikes me as the kind of kid that would change horses after another terrible ISU season in which he saw little playing time (the early trend).
Of course, we may not have the schollies and/or are no longer interested. Should it happen, however likely that may be, Cyclown nation will lose what little is left of their collective mind.
I’m calling it now after many months and threads partyhawk420 breaks the news that he is leaving isu for Iowa. Only for him a year later after minimal playing time to leave for Nebraska.
Let's see if he improves in a year or so...first. Then maybe Fran will consider it.
