ISU pbp/discussion

Should’ve seen the amount of joy and the disgusting shit Chittum had to say after it happened. That is one troubled young man.
This is a troubled young man — if true, it’s sad being that his career has been riddled with injury. I heard that he gets pounded in the room. This is your #1 pick in the class of 2010 or something

I don’t think people are writing him off, just surprised the gap is so wide, being a world champion and top 5 (3?) P4P recruit. People might counter with “Christian Carroll got majored” but I guess I expect more from our staff than I do Dresser. The loss isn’t surprising, not even being in the same area code, was.
Not even in the same area code? Geez, what a stupid thing to write. He snapped him down several times, almost had him pinned, twice. Ben controlled the top game. Rewatch the match, we just did. He was in deep on 2 shots. He went upper body and maybe shouldn’t have. Quit being a hater. Such a huge gap? The only gap I see is in your analysis. We knew Yonger would come out “clubbing” and Ben weathered the storm well. Ben is such a student, he will learn from it. It’s wrestling, and maybe try to write more constructive feedback and not be such a DB with the unnecessary added bs. 😡

I, for one, was pleasantly surprised with watching Ben wrestle. ISU folks were predicting bonus or a pin here to match Caliendo. I even heard Yonger wanted to the dual to start at 25 because he wanted he could pin to win. Ben had quit a few scoring opportunities and will close the gap every time. Ben’s mat wrestling is already superior to Yonger’s and I love the promise here. We all knew the top 4 would be tough to beat but they are ALL gone next year unless the NCAA finds another way to try and kill the sport

Involved with three schools before he wrestled his first collegiate match.
Says alot.

Its true I don't post BS. Yonger was 237 and Ben almost 233. They were just over 4lbs apart. Ben needs some more experience that's all it's not a size issue. Yonger was undefeated last year going into NCAA. Prior to Iowa st he beat Gadson in freestyle. Yonger is a very high level wrestler and so is Ben. Not worried about Ben at all he will be just fine
4.6 pounds to be exact

The actions of their coaches, wrestlers and staff (I'm talking about you Karen!) is embarrassing. Even worse that their staff is all former Hawkeyes. Tom and Terry are living rent free in ISU staff's head.

Dresser's press conference, he starts out passive aggressively crying about transfers.

Hey....everybody is good at something!

Dresser is good at crying 😢
Biggest pussy, or close, that I've ever seen.
Just gotta be killing him being TnT's lil bitch.

I was four rows (about 30 feet) from Dresser…whined and bitched the entire time.
Easily one of the most unlikeable coaches out there. Such a little brother mentality and it has infected their entire team and admin. I've never seen an opposing bench area act like that, however this is the first time in years with the opposing team bench being right in front of me.

Not sure I'm going to like the benches being moved.

Who was the big douchebag on their bench that kind of looked like Chris Perry?

Nobody from ISU ever expected Yonger to pin anyone, let alone someone as skilled as BK. Yonger has a handful of pins in his 4 years, that’s not his thing.

And then especially since it was his first match against a top guy like BK, most ISU people were hoping for win at best.

Most ISU people don't even know the clowns have a wrestling program anymore lmao.

Don't let the cesspool get to you. We're all passionate fans (some of us think we know more than we do) but in the end most of us want the team to be successful.

You obviously have a more vested interest so the comments hit closer to home. I appreciate people like you and Coach Phil, who are willing to tread into the murky waters of the cesspool. Social media and message boards bring out the worst in many people. I think many here are well-intentioned and want our wrestlers to perform at a high level but what's happening out east has made this an ugly board far too often.

FWIW, I thought Ben wrestled a good match last night just not enough against a very tough, high ranked wrestler, and I'm sure he'd say the same. In fact, he's probably far more critical of his match than anyone on this board. Gotta keep working and keep improving.

What is Ferraris preferred weight guys? I know it's been posted several times, can't remember.

Speak for yourself but I know that’s not the case. He wanted to go last and start at 25 because he was sure to bonus

You are right and I stayed away for so long. Got on to buy tickets and got sucked back in🤦‍♀️. I agree, most provide good commentary and perspective.

you are so right. I stayed away for so long. Dang it. Got on to find tickets and got sucked back in. 🙃 I know most people want success and are passionate about the sport. I just see what goes into all of this, the training, lifting, eating 6,000 calories day of the right food, school, mental prep, faith, etc. so when someone takes a stupid jab, it’s so gross. I appreciate the constructive contributions though.

Ben recognized several times where he could have capitalized and scored. He did good things and has stuff to work on.

Weight gain is hard when it has to be good weight. He has put on 20 pounds of good weight since May and keeps going. It’s going to take a little time.

Anyway, Go Hawks! 💪

I thought he looked really good given the knee and it being his first match back. Guy is so strong. That's what saved him from BK's cradle. If BK gets bigger/stronger to go along with his athleticism he's going to be a big problem for everyone in the division.

My feelings about Dresser and ISU are no secret, but along with having a rabid fan base, comes a percentage of Iowa fans that don't behave very well in Carver.
From some people I've communicated with since last evening, sounds like there were some really obnoxious and disgusting things said during the dual.

Please don't take much heed on what people on here have to say.

The board is full of trolls posing as iowa fans (unfortunately Tailgate Tom is one of our own, but you'd never know it as it seems like he's bawling in his mom's basement about an iowa guy sucking every time they give up a takedown).

Real hawk fans love Ben and recognize the unique challenges he's facing in his career.

To recap:

1. I said no one was giving up on him
2. “Liked” a post (agreed with it) saying (something to the effect of) he’ll be good and hopefully place top 5
3. Was then called “gross” and that I made a “DB statement” for suggesting BK wasn't close to Bastida (he wasn’t).

You being a D-Bag is a body of work, not based on one statement.

I think it was "Nicholls writing checks in real time." Tbh kind of low when the first thing these guys say (mineo/willie) is about money and not the well being of the student athlete. Just my 2 cents
You gotta understand the act 1st

You have to consider who you're responding to. Tailgate Tommy is the leader of the pack for stupidity in PBP threads for several years. It appears he's already built up a substantial lead this year.
