All in all...the dual was about what I expected. Not counting the 6, I think the Clones maxed out there expectation; they came to wrestle. I'd like to see where 125 and 141 are at by the end of year. Drake wrestled well. Parco beat a tough guy and did what he had to do to keep the lead. If you look at his history, he has wrestled and won a ton of close matches. Really wish he had got a TD to see how he rode the Cuban.
Thought Caliendo got caught up in getting a big early lead and gassed himself in the first a bit. Hat's off to Euton...very tough kid to takedown head on..solid hips. I think ISU found their guy at 165. I really like that Caliendo is a goer but I think in some situations, it's ok to pick your spots. Brandon Sorensen had a pattern to bonus points that he would nearly always finish in the third period with a full tank. Wasn't sexy but got the job done...and that was with a 2pt TD. (Also see Buchanan)
Besides Nelson, Kennedy is a guy who also has been dealt a lot of crap in here. Thought Tom was on it here because this matchup was probably decided in the room...who was the bigger "big brother" to Riggins. Loved the effort that Kennedy put in to getting this tech because its not like Riggins was fully broke. Both Kennedy and Tom understood the assignment.
I've seen a lot of guys who would become All Americans and champs wilt in their first Carver dual. Get out there and gas because they were so keyed up. Heard about Lincoln plus Sorensen and Kemerer come to mind. Ferrari is just one cool dude, great technically, tough to score on and has a good tank. Looked like he could go another 7 mins. ISU guy looked a lot bigger but you wouldn't know it.
They didn't do much in the first period but that TD at the end of the first just must have been a morale killer for ISU. Buchanan slapped on a tough ride and Carrol had no answer Buchanan was methodical in his approach and finished off the maj in the 3rd.
I thought Kueter wrestled alright. He needs to trust in his stuff and take more shots. He was getting to his snaps but wasn't ready to finish or pounce when the Cuban was snapped down. I'd like to see him go hi low on him. If he beats the Cuban, it's going to be done on the mat.
