why? you call the time out to advance the ball, eliminate any ten second call, and make sure you do not allow an easy quick score if there is a turn over. get the ball away from your opponents basket.

I think with Davis having the ball, burning clock, and not having to use IA's last timeout, KSU would have likely had to foul Davis - who played an exceptional game and tournament; and perfect from the line tonight too I might add - outweighs the advantages you correctly mention.

They called it exactly 1x tonight. She actually pitched a tent and made smores before they finally called it. Lisa and Jan were riding the refs all night long.
Thanks Upstream - I couldn't even find the box score a bit ago. The girls really all picked up the slack and played well.
Thoroughly enjoyed these past 3 days. The KSU bench was completely classless tonight. Their "ball boys" had a stuffed goat on the bench and would hold it up whenever CC committed a TO or missed a shot. Even the assistant coaches were talking sh!t. Hope they lose every game the rest of the season.. They didn't stick around for their runner up trophy or the all tournament team.
It was my first time seeing the CC effect at play. Little girls with stars in their eyes. Set a record last night for attendance. 95% IOWA fans. 99.9% CC fans. I found it incredibly interesting how much CC counts on the bench to help her monitor her emotions and maintain her composure. Her bond with Lisa is real.

Thanks for your observations. I watched the post game awards and noticed, too, that they didn't stick around for their runner up trophy; the big gal made the all tournament team and she was no where to be seen. Weird.
There's obviously no love lost between these two teams. Lisa said that in the second half while she was being restrained by Jan for giving it to the refs for allowing Lee to setup camp in the lane KSU coach Mittie was yelling at her. She said in all my career I've never had another coach do that, I wasn't even talking to him.
Except for Molly Davis, for whom I'm absolutely thrilled about the much deserved individual recognition.... does anyone really give two craps about the all tournament team in a third rate event like this? Or a runner up trophy? It would have been even more weird for the KSU team to hang around, or for KSU's two stars to hang back alone instead of debriefing with their team/coaches in the locker room. Based on what I watched, the postgame interviews and awards ceremony were awkward as hell for all involved.

If you’ve been paying attention to Kansas State women’s basketball this season, you might have noticed a fresh but mysterious face on the bench.
Is this what you saw? Doesn't explain poor behavior by K-State coach or skipping post-game ceremonies, but looks like the goat has been used before.
You can tell a lot about people/athletes by how they carry themselves after a loss. Our girls put on a clinic for this after they lost to LSU. One more reason why I love this team and coaching staff.
According to the announcers during the k-state UNC game, the goat was supposed to be for 3+ consecutive stops. Couldnt see the bench, dont know if they did something different for Iowa. Also watching the feed could not see/hear anything from the k-state bench, so no idea about that or what the K-State coach said that had Lisa ready to throw hands.
I think out of respect to the people running the tournment, you accept the 2nd place trophy and your player accepts the all tournament award in the way that the touney committee desires
