I said even 133 would be a stretch for him to be at that weight, I didn't say 133 would require a massive growth spurt. Go smoke up.
That's what doesn't make since with me and it must be a team thing. The SEPolk 132 isn't a top rated kid but he is a solid team guy for their lineup and their chances at state. Outside of 126 they don't really have anyone besides Jesuroga. Both 120 and 138 are two of their better wrestlers. So maybe its a team thing at SEPolk as well as Iowa still views him at 125 for now. From a SEPolk source though I've heard he is probably more of a 132/133 now based on how he is growing and how his style of training is. His frame has really filled out these past few seasons.
Losing his services to would be a bigger team thing to me as a hs coach.
Polk had another stud quit a couple years ago after his freshman year. He's an all state linebacker for them now but if he would have stayed out he would be one of the top 220 pounders in the state/midwest and would be a junior this year. He won everything as a kid. I don't know if it is the coaches but that is 2 studs losing interest in a couple years.
Good kid. I don’t think it was so much about not liking the sport but just focusing on Football and Baseball.
Draven gave up wrestling for a number of reasons from my understanding.

Fairly bold statement. He apparently hasn’t wrestled since 7th grade and even then he lost several instate kids.
He was more of a man vs. boys kid, not necessarily a skilled wrestler. So he manhandled most kids but then had challenges against the more experienced or higher quality wrestlers. But he was also a good all around athlete and as others have said decided to focus more on other sports. As a sophomore, he was a starter on SEP dline, which is quite an accomplishment for young player at an established powerhouse.
Yup. Far cry from best in the state and Midwest.
This may be another stupid question, but... Many of you are from IOWA, can't any of you find out what is happening with the kid? I mean if the kid was wrestling in my area, it would be easy enough to ask around and see what is up?

What's there to put to rest? The kid isn't wrestling at this point.
Hello? He may or may have not got tired of cutting weight. His coach may or may not have discouraged the move up. But he ain’t wrestling right now.
I can see the point if so…. He could be burned out having to cut weight for the team. He's proven himself on a national level. Let him eat and actually have to use his skills against, theoretically bigger guys.
He wrestled 126 last season, a weight class heavier than he was making for all his national level events this past Summer. He may well be burned out from cutting weight but not for SE Polk.
may be harsh, but the decision on jesuroga is over imo. those resources should be allocated elsewhere. it is almost impossible to succeed at a high level in college if you don't absolutely love it. he clearly doesn't. if he's burnt out now, the college grind won't help. both parties are probably better off moving on. and that's no smoke to nate. whatever makes him happiest is the preferred outcome for me.
He got dinged up right before super32’s. Coach told him to take some time off to heal up. In the time off the mat his attitude completely changed and made the decision he was done with wrestling and wanted to be a Navy Seal. He has nothing left to prove in HS. The hope is he spends this summer in IC with his brother and teammates and finds himself back on the mat. I’ve never heard anything about weight cutting.
He’s done wrestling competitively for the foreseeable future and the staff is, and has been aware of this fact.
Jesuroga very well might come back to the sport, think it’s a little early to write him off.
While not an apples to apples comparison, Caeleb Dressel almost quit competitive swimming after high school because he was also burned out with his sport. Didn’t swim for nearly half a year. Luckily the UF coaches didn’t bail on him. Jesuroga is, I believe, a high school junior. He could come back to the sport in the next couple years refreshed and refocused.

Not the end all be all, but Nate no longer appears in the major HS ranking services. I would imagine either the athlete or the coaches reached out. In December he was #1 @ 126 and in the P4P discussion, now MIA.
Not really. Just found it funny your post was pretty much verbatim of what I was saying about Assad yet you chastised me for saying it and told me I was crazy and wrong. And now...now you are saying the same thing about Jesuroga. Do you think I forget these things JS?
smugness doesn't cover for stupidity. the whole angle on that assad article that you loved was that he had rediscovered his love for the sport after burning out years earlier. there was no evidence he's burned out currently like you insist. but you were so gross that you saw that he had burned out once and hyperfocused on it to the point you'd bring it up every time his name got mentioned because it made you feel good to score imagined internet points over strangers.

Whether I was right in not wanting a recruit that lost his love for the sport is irrelevant. Whether Assad not being all in on the sport is irrelevant. What isn't irrelevant is you JS...you telling me I was crazy for making such statements only to be saying them yourself about a different recruit. Sorry, but you accusing me of having joy if kids lose their love for a sport isn't hiding the fact that you're a hypocrite. Do you want me to start going through all the stuff I've said here that you guys called crazy, things that pissed you off, things that got me banned over the years only to be later proven correct or at the very least legit concerns.. Because I will.

apparently not smart enough to follow that the whole issue was you asserting assad was currently burned out and hated the sport. and your obsession with it made it clear you wanted it to be true. there is no evidence it is true.

Hey numbskull, I first said it when Assad committed to Iowa. At the time I said I'd stay away from kids that may have lost their love for the sport or showed signs he may. THE EXACT SAME THING YOU ARE SAYING ABOUT JESUROGA. Matter of fact, rumor has it the Cael doesn't have many questions for recruits but one he always asks is if the love the sport. I'm like Cael...the answer to that question is HUGE!
Now about Assad. None of us can get into his head and determine if he's all in. Not you, not me or anyone else. Maybe he is...maybe he isn't. If I were a coach I'd avoid those type of kids so I'm not left wondering. That's what I said then he and that's what I say now. You on the other hand seem to have had a revelation because you're saying now saying it after telling me I was nuts and crying to the mods that I'm so mean.
my guy this isn't congress. nobody cares whether you think we're hypocrites - and i'm not, it's not a comparable situation. no matter how many times you hop onto HR and do a mr. jones goes to washington speech, nobody is going to tell you you're right.
