Neymar was a beast out there. Guy played through multiple fouls and kept control of the ball. He was way better than Messi tonight. Happy for Messi to finally get a big trophy. Helluva game.

Berhalter chose to focus on the Nations League and to use the Gold Cup to fill out back end of the line up.
The Gold Cup requires a much longer commitment than the Nations League and the schedule approximated the World Cup qualifying windows. The US left off most of their European players, who either have heavy work loads, history of injuries, or uncertain club situations.
Mexico and Canada decided to bring in their best teams. Canada's best player Alphonso Davies withdrew due to injury.
So this is the CONCACAF Gold Cup. The easiest way to think about it is that CONCACAF is our conference and the Gold Cup is the conference tournament (although we have the Nation's Cup now too but it is still behind the Gold Cup... but not this year??). CONCACAF is the North American teams plus the three random nations from north eastern portions of South America for some reason. WC qualifying will begin here shortly so the A team players are allowed to stay and play for their clubs to get ready after a weird COVID season.
I, personally, would rank it:
World Cup
Gold Cup (following WC year- all A team)
Copa America (when it is North and South America together)
Olympics (U23 team)
Gold Cup (during World Cup qualifying- like this year)
They will win it easily and claim how great they are against our B squad.
Did other teams put their top squads in like Costa Rica and Honduras? The Honduran side is certainly getting better and Costa Rica seems to be grasping at straws after the golden generation has aged.
And they finish 0-0 with a Trinidad & Tobago side that only qualified via penalty kicks vs French Guiana. Wow!
They also had 30 shots and 82% possession. Mexico just sucked at finishing tonight and T&T got lucky...
