****Official FSU getting smashed by UGA thread****

You guys should’a played the Phuqueyes…..I’dhave watched the whole game and cheered for you the whole way!
tOSU’s game vs. Mizzery raises questions for me about the coaching ability of Ryan Day…..The talent at tOSU in undeniable…..maybe only one or two places are better…,.,but their QB problems (I know….3rd string) are indefensible. The poor guy was a fish out of water…..

I see no one is talking about the players who were out for Georgia, whether they were injured or in the transfer portal.

This might be the best use of this gif I’ve ever seen.

Out of curiosity, how many of those are starters? On their 2-deep?
I’d have to go back and look at a previous depth chart. But on offense they were missing a starting WR, TE and OT, all injured. The TE is a top 5 pick and OT is a 1st round pick as well. The QB transfer was 2nd string so the QB who led 3 second half TD drives was their 3rd string. Not missing as many starters, but definitely depth pieces.

3 starters is not the same as 14. Jeez. Did you not think about that before posting?

Doesn’t sound that similar at all then. Just on offense alone, we were without qb1/qb2, rb1/rb2/rb3, wr1/wr2, and TE. We were missing starters AND depth…and are not nearly as deep (recruiting cycles under Norvell vs Kirby). Lots of freshman got playing time tonight.

More than 3, 6-7 that have starts, but 27 overall most of which are depth pieces if not starters. All freshman and sophomores playing second half won 21-0. But yes FSU was missing more, but that just shows the culture difference.

Yeah. ”Culture difference.”

That’s not correct. The first two drives of the second half were all (or most) of their 1st team still, minus Beck. Edward’s is a senior (scored TD).

That’s fine. They own it. I’ve been saying college athletes have been getting paid for decades. I don’t care how much Iowa and the Big Ten makes. This has turned out way worse than even I thought it was going to be. High school kid who’s kind of good at a sport is a millionaire. Now do people who research cancer cures.

We are so effing backwards.
You should boycott college sports and start a movement. The players that built a billion dollar empire decided to get their peice of the pie, good for them. I love how it's OK for pro athletes to ask for the sun, moon, and stars from the owners because they built them, but when college athletes do it's "out of control".

All game long ESPN went on and on and on about the culture and how UGA had their entire team sans Bowers and one other guy because of the culture Kirby has built. So, now we're going to hear differently? Good grief can this season end please?

Never in my life could I have imagined going 13-0 would be effing miserable!

Not even close to same as what FSU had happen.
Most of the starters and back ups were out. Guys going pro, getting surgeries early, and injured plus some transfers. UGA had a few guys miss but by and large their two deep was intact and most of the opt outs were second and third team transfers. Not hyperbole, that was FSU’s third team vs GA first team.

I was going to comment that many of the other bowl games have been good. Something has to be done about the opt outs. I know I'm a coach and not representative of kids today but I don't get how you do this to your teammates, coaches, fans.
Brando. Boom. He has been calling this shit out. Good on him.
Sorry Hawkfan, until your team gets treated this way, you may not understand it. Anybody who blames those kids for opting out needs to try to wear their shoes.

You guys got screwed, no doubt. I just saw this as a way to prove to the NCAA they messed up. I do feel really bad about that.

I was referring more so to the Ohio St.'s who weren't going to make it anyways. Like I said, I am not in their shoes and recognize my opinion isn't shared by them.

False equivalency. Glad you enjoy this garbage.

8-4, even with a new QB and key pickups?

Without even looking at the schedule I’ll say 10-11 wins.

Maybe 9-3 (Im also in a seriously skepitcal mood right now based on that game). FSU is thin as rice paper on depth. But........
UGA missed out on facing:

Starters:
Jordan Travis
Johnny Wilson
Keon Coleman
Jaheim Bell
Trey Benson
Lawerence Toafili (returning!)
Kenton Poiter after about a quarter
Brandon Fiske
Josh Farmer
Jared Verse
Tatum Bethune
DJ Lundy
Renardo Green
Akeem Dent

Next year, without the guys above (minus a couple medical opt outs). Every position is up for grabs, no one should have a position locked in. Right now, the best squad FSU has is the team that played against UGA and what ever adds come in from the portal (for the most part). Next year is going to be a completely different team (young and new).

That is an easy schedule in my book. But, my way too early prediction..... Losses to ND, Clemson, UF/Miami and UNC. Memphis will likely give FSU more than expected, they looked sharp (Im not sure how many they return). Again, way too early, but next season is going to be tough after watching this season's team. I hope Im wrong.

And yes, lots of practice from now till then. But guess what, everyone on the schedule gets the same number of practices.

And my latest concern.... that performance scaring away some NFL hopeful portal pickups who are a 1 and done looking for a good final season before going pro.

Having a team full of players with no loyalty to the program, is a weakness.
This game wasn’t a good reflection of these two teams this season, but it said a lot about where these two programs are heading. Players are fleeing one program that faced disappointment, but largely stuck with the other program, that had also just missed the chance to repeat as champions.
That’s the impact of the conference realignment process.

You really don’t see the difference?

Georgia was coming off a loss and didn’t win the SEC. No reason to expect to be in the CFP. Totally different situation with FSU.

As far as loyalty? I doubt very many wanted to play this consolation game.

I have to believe it's both reasons, but agree 100%, left it on the field 13-0 and it clearly didn't matter. They also mentioned that the graduating seniors for UGA were playing for their 50th win? Thats impressive. Another record for them.
