USA Today: Caitlin will not be selected for Olympic Women's Basketball Team

We were watching the men’s game and also the half time and post game, and I kept hoping they would ask her about it. She still can’t get herself to say Caitlin should be on the team.
She's not right on that but it does prove a point. That said, if CC were playing I'd watch the game but otherwise I don't have much desire to watch them blow a team out by 70 points. And that's not just because it's women's, I wouldn't watch the mens or really anything that lopsided unless I had a specific rooting interest in the match. If the game were more competitive I'd watch though.
Actually Japan plays a very fun and modern style of basketball. Unfortunately for them they have the size of a 6th grade boys team. They've got 13 3's but obviously our size and skill just way to much.
Everyone involved with the decision to leave CC off the team should be fired. My God CC mania in the Olympics would make such a world wide impact.
Heck I know peeps hate Reese but if she was playing I would watch, Clark, Reese and Ogunbowale should have been on the team.
I hope "fans" noticed how physical the game was and how aggressive Japan was picking up the US full court -- I don't think too many 6th grade boys teams would have matched up very well with the Japanese.
You mean like these sixth graders from a typical select team? Just a different pace of play for the boys.
No, but a lot of freshman boys teams would…and many high school boys teams would blow them off the court.

Kudos to Team USA for drawing over 13,000. That’s about 10-11,000 more than I thought would show (though about 20,000 fewer than if CC were there, obviously). I guess I way underestimated Taurasi’s appeal. Like by a long shot.
Meanwhile, Caitlin keeps taking the high road and saying all of the right things. The W and Team USA establishment don't deserve her.
The people arguing to keep CC off the team argue "She isn't one of the best 12 players in the US!"
Newsflash! Taurasi and Griner aren't either...
And 100% you put her on the team to grow the game. Just like the 1992 Dream Team. Was Magic better than others that could have made it? Was Bird with his bad back? No. But they were on there for their world wide name appeal to grow the game and it worked...

Did you notice on the replay of the Rich Eisen Show who didn't think she should have been chosen was a Big Fan of A. Reese, who he would have put on the team?
The entire point of having her on the team was about increasing viewership, which increases popularity of their sport, which increases revenue, which increases salaries and other perks. I can't tell if those who want to get mired in the "she's not even one of the best 12 in the league" or "who on the team doesn't deserve to be there if Caitlin is on the team" or some other such argument are being intentionally obtuse and are covering up for some other agenda or are Mr. Magoo-level short-sighted.
It's amazing how little I care about the women's Olympic team with no CC. SHOCKING

Anyone with functional eyes could see CC doing things that NO ONE else does the last few years. But sure.... She needed more WNBA experience to earn a spot. LOL

Perhaps you should contact Jan and encourage her to get a HS Freshmen boys team to to serve as practice players instead of male college students. Bet you’re in that group that thought Bohannan would have smoked Clark.
Not at all. Frankly I'm not creepy enough to want to inquire into what CC, Cmac, Lexi Hull, Samuelson, and I suppose their significant others are doing in Mexico. I'll simply go by what she said after the All Star game. See Ya. I'm on vacation! I'll just take her at her word.
Some of you need to take a cue from Caitlin herself and take a break from this. Being this aggrieved on the part of someone else must be exhausting.
