The matchup vs Ohio State is.

Ohio State heavy favored at
125(#10 Brendan McRone)
141 (#2 Jessi Mendez)
#7 Nick Bouzakis can maybe beat Ayala, depending on how Drake is. I just haven't seen enough if Drake at 133 vs top guys to be sure.
Parco over #12 Dylan D'Emellio we win but a test.
We'll see who we got at 157 vs #7 Paddy Gallagher
I doubt Sasso at this stage could beat Caliendo.
174 #9 Carson Karchla would be a match to see if Kennedy is up ranked high for real
184 #15 Ryder Rogotzke is a test but if Arnold is God we're good
197 we win.
HWT #8 Nick Feldman. Nearly Tech falld Oregon state guy

A win for us, Mathematically, looks challenging

Here is them dominating Oregon St. We did too but if you watch Ohio St looks legit.

Since Wisconsin and Illinois are far less competitive duals I thought about osu after now seeing them a few times

Think Ohio state wins 4 bouts(25,41,57,hwt). 74 is a tossup, and they got a punchers chance at 33/84..

Intermat Ranking used today

To me Kennedy is the only "Toss Up Match" which I'm confident in with what's at stake for him and being a home dual

If Peterson goes 125, he could pull out a win if weight is under control although he had nothing against Ayala.
Going to need good Drake.
If Teemer is back, were pretty sure win as team.
It's going to be tight but Im taking PK over Karch.
Arnold may take it to Rog for bonus.
Feldman another great test for BK like the Cuban. Hope BK can start turning these into wins.

** These are the meets worth the money when the win is not automatic. PSU has got that unprecedented team but has to be boring just focusing on a match or two within a meet that is already decided. We got some competitive meets coming up with Illinois, Ohio St, Okie St, Minny, Nebby. Hoping we show aggressiveness with PSU at end of month and pull out some wins.

Only thing I’m worried about at 65 is Caliendo’s penchant for putting his head close to his knee during scrambles. If Drake can withstand the first period onslaught, I like him in the 3rd period. Depends on who goes but I don’t know that 125 is a heavy favorite either way.

Or Bouzakis can't handle No brakes Drake and gasses in Per2.

Mendez is gonna put on a show!

Teemer return could be the difference in the dual.

Arnold or Ferrari gonna be 🎆 against Rogotzke!

I think Davino is a better matchup for Drake. Bouzakis is a power guy which is where Drake struggles and is a big move guy. If it’s Davino I think Drake does better.

Watch Bouzakis closely. He's still gassing in matches. He's just done a much better job of pacing himself. Drake is going to wear him down at the end. Close, but high scoring match.

Drake struggles more with scramblers than power guys.
Ramos (the first time) and McKee horsed him around the mat. Yes he struggles to finish on the scrambly guys, but he moves better and does finish on those kinda guys. It’s the power, lose hand fight, can’t get in guys that he struggles with most.

Zadick vs Schwab happened at wrestle offs when Zalesky had them roll out the main mat at Carver in ‘99 or 2000. Was one of the best matches I’ve ever seen and there was def no love lost during it. Absolutely fierce battle that I believe Schwab won on a last second TD for a final of something like 8-6 or 9-7. May have even been OT.

I think Davino is a better matchup for Drake. Bouzakis is a power guy which is where Drake struggles and is a big move guy. If it’s Davino I think Drake does better.
Recall Davino defeated Bouzakis in early season match, Clarion Open. Davino dominate on his side of bracket. Davino unbeaten so far, in starting lineup for several tOSU matches.

I’m guessing he hasn’t been in 5 yet, so he can redshirt. If he’s done 5, then we probably won’t see him.

Agree, he could get down by a few take downs in the first half of the match, but Bouzakis will probably gas in the second half if Drake stays on the attack. Teske beat him that way after being down big. Probably the best match teske ever wrestled as a hawk.

Speaking of Teske, heard his name over loudspeaker announcing coaches for wrestlers. Seems he is in Cali and is helping coach Sammy Sanchez’s school. He is a freshman who won U17 Worlds and is probably the new #1 at 113 after the kid from Illinois lost.

I would consider Iowa losing to tOSU a major upset. Their performance in the Oregon St match was not as dominant as the final score. Paddy, Sasso, and even Kharchla to a certain extent were unimpressive in their wins against B-list competition, and McCrone lost to Renteria. I get that he beat Kilkeary in their wrestle-off, but I don't understand how. Kilkeary has looked better than McCrone by the eye test to me so far and it's not really close. Regardless, tOSU should win 125 and TF at 141 (Mendez has been their only guy who has been consistently outstanding). If Teemer isn't back, they should win 157, too, but anyone you have out there should be able to hold Paddy to a 3-point decision. If Teemer is back, he should handle Paddy fairly easily. As much as everyone in the wrestling community is rooting for Sasso on a personal level, he's not the same wrestler as he was, and while Caliendo hasn't been super dominant yet this season, he should be getting into peak form by the end of the month and may be able to get bonus points if he's on his game. PK has looked better than Kharchla so far this season, so that is a toss-up at worst and maybe a small advantage for Iowa. At 184, yes, Rogotzke has shown the ability to catch and stick anyone anywhere, so Gabe certainly needs to be careful about that, but Gabe is a bad matchup for that style, too, as a shorter, stronger 184. He'll be difficult to bully like that, and Rogotzke also gave up the first takedown against a really mid opponent and wasn't looking particularly good when he caught the guy and stuck him. Buchanan should get bonus points, and Feldman-Kueter is probably the marquee match of the night that might signal the direction of HWT after this season when Gable, Kerk, Hendrickson, Schultz, and Yonger are all gone.

So, tOSU has the advantage at 125 and 141 for sure and 157 only if Teemer is still out, but Iowa should have a big advantage at 157 (with Teemer), 165, and 197, and 184 as long as Gabe doesn't get caught. 133, 149, and 174 are much closer matchups, but I give Iowa a slight advantage in each, and heavy is a true 50-50. I don't really like tOSU's chances at all.

Obviously, Penn State is going to boat race everyone this year, but I see only Ok St with Iowa in the next tier below them. The rest of the teams are fighting for 4th.

Good for Brody. He gave us insight into what could have been at the end of his final year. A great scrambler and had the horsepower to come out on top. I think injuries held him back, at least in his time at Iowa, not sure prior to that. Hopefully BT will let Sanchez know where lightweight u is after HS.
