I liked Frayer. His wife worked with mine and he got me some neat signed stuff from the team. Beating Metcalf for the Olympic team I think put him in the “enemy” side of the current staff unfortunately.

I worked for a large engineering company. The building had 700 people, so you can imagine there would be a few characters. Well, we were having a layoff in the 2009/10 recession as we all remember, and as usual, large companies find layoffs a good time to get rid of underperforming hires. We all knew this one engineer was going to be let go. Very odd is the nicest thing I can say about him. A postal worker type. Short temper if his shortcomings were brought up type. I had my own work laying off people that day so didn't know he was on the "list". So it's lunch and I'm looking out my window at the extremely large parking lot (like half mile circle if you walked it), and I notice this engineer walking past the entrance to start his second time around the parking lot. He is pulling a Little Red Wagon with all his personal effects inside. Round and round the parking lot pulling his little red wagon. I call the VP of HR as he passes by again, and told him to look out the window. His office was like 30 feet from this guy. I didn't even say anything else. All I got from HR was, "gotcha". He had gone completely catatonic over being laid off when everyone in the company knew he was substandard. Sometimes we are the last to know that we aren't working out. I think he needed help getting home.
I tell that story because I don't know these coaches personally that are mentioned on the internet, but I'm sure some of them do not play well with others, and it's not always the bosses fault that they aren't good employees.

The issue is that if Brands felt they should be replaced, he would've replaced them. So he obviously doesn't feel they need to be replaced.
The issue is not the arrangement of the deck chairs, it's the gaping hole in the bow.
A 100-point, 2nd place season in 2025 probably saves him. Another 5th place finish dooms him, if it hasn't already.
If I’m penn st, im hoping brands and his staff stay for a long time and not changing a thing except for moving into their new facility.

Spencer would not have competed in 2022. We didn’t have any injuries after Big Tens in 2021.
I see. As far as NCAA’s are concerned Spencer gets injured and we wouldn’t have fared any better than we did? Does it matter in 2022 PSU had 4 #1 seeds, a #2 and #4 seed? In 2020 PSU had 7 NCAA qualifiers. It’s hard to deny PSU was much stronger in ‘22 than ‘20.
When you posted how Covid hurt SL he becomes a 2020 gold medalist and probably a 4x NCAA Champion and his reputation is enhanced.
You did preface, any little hiccup could have changed the scenarios. Kudos to you for making a post you can defend from 2 sides.

Biggest surprise for me is Block at 149. But it looks like he'll be the man. Right now the plan is Caliendo to 157 (edited to add Siebrecht as well at 157) to get PK in the lineup. Brands medical was approved. AJ - somehow, yuck, - is still in the plans, but it sounds like he's just going to move on to MMA. Anthony is still around and is still a troublemaker. Why he's still around is absolutely absurd and when he does something worse, it's going to be on Tom.
There is no talk about changes to assistant. Like Wahlberg said - assistants are just extensions of Tom. Period. I think its short-sighted, arrogant, and at this point, just plain negligent, but hey, dems the breaks.
Sorry acuhawk - Tom's practices on a general basis are NOT 45-60 minutes. They are towards the end of the season, and certainly happen earlier than they used to, but that is not the typical practice time. But the practice time isn't really the biggest deal - it's still the intensity. Still long goes, still far more on the "dark places" track.
Now the biggie - yes. Kyven was right. The AD has plans to talk to DT. She is dead serious about WINNING chips again. She's not particularly happy with Tom at the moment. The gambling, the ferrari situation, and this performance - she's holding Tom accountable and will be looking to do what will have us beat carl. She is VERY AWARE of the legacy of Iowa wrestling and how we're falling further behind. Like I told you earlier, she shut down AJ coming in in January - she's not a fan and isn't a fan of Tom's decision to bring the circus in. She also told Tom to get a hold of Terry - it's why he's been "less" in the corners.
Now how this got out? Not sure, but it likely means there are Tom loyalists who wanted it leaked. Because the plan was to wait until after the Olympics to talk to DT. So now that its out, not sure if this will accelerate talks or stop them completely.

I wouldn’t doubt she doesn’t know many names of wrestlers outside the Iowa program. Wrestling is a niche sport, women just started wrestling at the high school and college level not too long ago, and it’s fan base is male dominated. I’m sure she will have some good consultants when the time come to replace Tom.

I will say this right here. Bob Nicolls is about Bob Nicolls' ego and power at Iowa wrestling. He "hopes" Iowa wrestling succeeds, but of more importance is his position within Iowa wrestling as a power broker. I look at OSU's new benefactor. His goal was to build wrestling within the state of Oklahoma, and he is funding that effort through DT. I'd much rather stand behind that guy than Bob Nicolls, who is in it for self glory. Refute that if you can, or more likely Bob will. People like him can't lay low.
