Where does ISU go when the Big 12 implodes?

Been answered but you don't pay attention.

It has? How is the Big 12 going to make up what Texas is going to lose when the LHN contract is up? Where exactly is Texas going to get the $43M that the LHN generates today?

Texas values all of their sports, even non-revenue ones. Scheduling would be a nightmare. They would have to have an agreement with a conf for everything but football. Who would that be with that wouldn't place an unwanted burden travelwise? I understand that you throw things out there, but you know very little about UT. I know a great deal about them outside of what gets published by sensationalism grabbing reporters.

Wow! I am so humbled that someone of your infinite knowledge of all things Texas has taken the time to troll an Iowa message board in an attempt to enlighten us and raise us to the status of an elite ISU fan. The truth is neither of us has any idea what Texas or OU will do when the current agreement winds down. I have not pretended to have any inside knowledge. I mentioned things as a possibility. Regardless of what OU and Texas do, ISU is NEVER going to rise above a 3rd tier team in football. You clowns would be on a level with Illinois and possibly Indiana if you were in the B1G. Nebraska is probably going to get better. Maryland and even Rutgers have seen a serious uptick in recruiting. You pussies would be lucky to win three games in a B1G season year in and year out. Why? Because the B1G teams beat the shit out of each other week in and week out while your conference has one pillow fight after another. You guys would be running ads for walkons by about week 8 of any given season. Enjoy that amazing 8-5 season you had last year. Those memories will have to tide you by for about six years or so.

The LHN generates $15M/year for tier 3 inventory. OU & KU make $9M/yr without ESPN. The broadcast marketplace is changing dramatically as we speak. Amazon, Facebook, Netflix, etc., are flush with cash(at the expense of the traditional carriers including BTN). The B12 has started talking with the P12 about their money pit called the PTN. There is talk that alliances will be formed to negotiate TV rights in the next go around. If the conference structure blows up, it won't be one conf being disbanded. The schools that have thrived under the protection of big market conf mates, will all be at risk....including Iowa.

The net to Texas for the third tier is $15 but to get to the net they need to generate around $41 million to offset the production costs. So where again is Texas going to generate this $41m with the Big 12 going forward if they can’t find a replacement for the LHN?

They get paid by ESPN. The number is $15M.

Kind of shows how weak the B10 was
I wasn’t trying to make conference smack, I just enjoyed his statement that the Big 12 was one big pillow fight. The Big 10 has great teams and the Big 12 has great teams, I think it’s hard to judge the two against each other as differently as they play the game. One is spread offense and high scoring, one is grind it out/fullbacks and tight ends that are part of the offense.

I understand that Einstein, the LHN brings in $43m in revenue, pays $26m in costs and pays Texas $15m.

So when ESPN doesn’t renew the LHN how is the Big 12 going to pay Texas the $15m they are getting today? Seems to me they can’t so Texas will bolt and when they do OU will also jump ship. But hey you can go back to the tiny 8 right?

If OU & KU can get $9M, UT can monetize their tier 3 just fine......Einstein. Even you can follow the logic

I keep asking who will pay Texas what ESPN has proven isn’t profitable and you can’t come up with anything. So once again it is because clown fan says so. Clown fans never fail to entertain, it is why you are clowns.

There is only one problem with your premise and that is the B1G will be the first entity to negotiate with all parties and all types of streaming technology.

What is interesting is the fact that I am even responding to you. I have purposely not responded to you before because you are just out there. Texas is under contract with the LHN until about 2030. There sure is a great deal of time until then. Their T3 inventory may get $25M/yr at that time. I anticipate much more indepth discussions with the Pac12 when we get closer to TV deals.

You haven’t said anything, other than you are sure the LHN revenue for Texas will be replicated but can’t say how. My point is that ESPN has learned its lesson on the LHN and won’t replicate that mistake anytime soon and neither will any of the other networks.

So to keep Texas the Big 12 will have to find another way to make them whole.

Unless the market structure changes dramatically and teams start aligning according to market size and potential.

Yes and Oklahoma was good last year. No argument here. They were the only Big 12 team I would say that about. And just about anyone can jump up and bite someone on a given week. Iowa/OSU was an example, just like ISU/OU. I would have expected OSU to beat Iowa 9 out of 10 times if last year's teams played over and over. I would expect OU to beat ISU 19 out of 20 times. Hell, even Walden managed to beat Nebbie in 92, probably extending his career in the process. When you have to line up week after week and get pounded by OSU, Michigan, MSU, PSU, Wisconsin, Iowa, it takes a toll on you by November. NW could realistically compete with anyone from the Big 12 not named Oklahoma. The physicality in the B1G is on an entirely different level than the Big 12.

Anybody can win one at home, but not on the road. There is nothing to connect the victories except that Iowa & Oklahoma both beat Ohio St.

I’m not saying the teams you mentioned aren’t good, because they are, but with two divisions, please tell me the last team to have played all of them in one season? It would have to be a team from the east with really crappy luck. I appreciate your argument but would also believe that a KSU could compete with most of the Big 10 in most years.

I am glad this poster is here. We have blindly been reading and believing people who do this stuff for a living, people who link their actual name to what they put out for a far larger forum of people. I mean really who can trust people whose homes, insurance, cars, kids schools, etc. rely upon being accurate more often than not. Glad we have this fountain of knowledge who doesn't substantiate their claims with much more than 'I say it often enough it must be true'. Thank you for being our security blanket and leading us away from the path of facts and proof.

You do realize Iowa played PSU, OSU & MSU last season? Top 3 in the other division and all won 10 games. You said Michigan but minus 16' Sparty has been superior program last 6-8 years.

You got the blind part accurately. You look and respond positively to what you want to read, and you ignore and downgrade what doesn't fit your agenda. It really is that simple. The people who make a living and pay their bills by catering to that agenda.

Doesn’t count. Clown fans pick and choose when schedule does and doesn’t matter. Just like they pick and choose which facts do and don’t count. It’s so adorable.

I haven't ignored your posts and so far those and your fellow ISU supporters are they only ones who support that position. You have been asked to substantiate your opinion, you have either chosen not to or are unable to. If you would like to support your position with something other than your or other Cyclone supporters opinions feel free. I have looked for it in the national media(people who do this for a living) and I can't find it. Feel free to link it and I will be open to the information.

Show the facts and leave out opinions. The only fact you can accurately state about future conference alignment is that TV rights get negotiated in 7 years.

Opinions without facts are just clown fans spouting off. It’s that little brother syndrome you all are afflicted with. So adorable.

Forget it. Twice in this thread I have directly challenged this clown to provide a link supporting an outrageous claim he made. Of course, no response, other than that we are all blind sheep who know nothing and he is clearly right because he says so.

Iowa played those 3 teams like in the post I quoted for my post. You may want to slow down, work on comprehension and try to not post based solely on your emotion and opinion. Facts are your friends and currently you don't have them.
