Who's Getting the Fall COVID Vaccine?

Knowing what I know now, I would have preferred to not get vaccinated. My outcome would have been the same. Mild Covid.
Instead I doubled down on a 'novel virus' with a 'novel vaccine'.
You are an anti-science person. I expected this answer from you.

No you aren't. You have proved it. You think you know more than medical experts. You don't think the vaccine works.
No, I'm actually honest about what the vaccine can and can't do. Instead of just saying, 'it works!'.
Because that is something people say who operate on a very basic level.

What population tend to die from Covid more often when infected. The vaccinated or those not? This isn't difficult. I don't care if the vaccine doesn't stop the spread.

In spite of the objections from dim-witted RFK Jr, I'm definitely getting this shot too!

Put a number on 'very effective'.

Protection against severe disease remained high for all variants, with 90·2% (69·7–97·5) for ancestral, alpha, and delta variants, and 88·9% (84·7–90·9) for omicron BA.1 at 40 weeks."

Previous infection alone can confer 90% protection against severe disease according to a study in The Lancet.
But, people are assigning that protection to the vaccine in many cases.

"We identified a total of 65 studies from 19 different countries. Our meta-analyses showed that protection from past infection and any symptomatic disease was high for ancestral, alpha, beta, and delta variants, but was substantially lower for the omicron BA.1 variant.

"Previous infection is 100% effective against future Covid if you die from it."

If this is what you are discussing. That the majority of south wales is vaccinated so it is not surprised deaths would primarily come from that group. Even still the death rates of the unvaccinated were over twice that of the population that was unvaccinated as a percentage. Still showing you would have been better off to have the vaccine than not have the vaccine.
What's so troubling in today's America is that there are people who are deliberately obfuscating important points like this.

Instead, they say "look, more people who got vaccinated are dying than people who didn't get vaccinated."

And when the obvious correction is pointed out, the folks who were suckered by that deception won't adjust their understanding because the correction comes from a liberal or a Biden supporter or whatever.

Yep

That it does.
Editing people's posts now. The old liar is getting desperate. But this has gotten boring so back to ignore for you. I'll check in on you from time to time going forward, just to call you out on your bullshit. Not that everyone doesn't already know it.

Most reasonable people realize the benefits of the vaccine. There are some who wonder how dangerous the vaccine is or are. I realize the benefits, I got 3 shots, but I also wonder just how dangerous this or these vaccines are, since little to no trials, and anecdotal (again) things I saw post vaccination.

The old and the sick. Almost everyone else who didn't have a bunch of comorbidities was just fine.

If you had this conversation with your doctor he would laugh you out of his office. You are seriously ignorant. How old are you and where do you get your information?
If your doctor laughs at the above statement, then you should find a new doctor, because he is dead wrong.

93.4% of covid deaths occurred in people 50+ despite this group only accounting for 34% of the population.

Nice try. My comment was in response to this statement of yours:

Mr. Anti-Science. Do your own research. You apparently know more than all of the medical community. You are a joke. Many healthy people died. You had a much better chance at surviving Covid with a vaccine than without. That is a proven fact. Somehow you will argue against it though.

So?

It's still killing younger people at a rate 5x higher than influenza does. Yes, even now in 2023 after vaccines have been readily available.

Vaccines provide benefit for ALL ages.

Some people are hopeless. 93% of the deaths were to people >50. I think that covers the old part. There is also tons of data out there regarding how many deaths had preexisting conditions.

I links an article that does a good job breaking it down for you.

This is very basic stuff, feel free to ask questions if it doesn't make sense.

You are a dolt.

50 isn’t old.
50 by itself is not necessarily old, but a 50 year old has a higher risk of comorbidities. So for the sake of covid deaths, 50 is considered on the low side of old. (People called Tom Brady too old at 40, context matters.)

Maybe you should try listening to what I am saying instead of pretending you know everything. You might actually learn something.
You still can't answer a simple question. Is it better to be vaccinated or not when you become infected with Covid?

With delta, it was better to be vaccinated if you were 65+ or had comorbidities. If you were young and healthy, there was a very low risk of serious illness to start with.

Today, almost everyone has had covid or has been exposed to covid. So people have natural "immunity" through exposure. This provides the same protection as the vaccine offers without any potential risks of actually taking the vaccine.
