you are kidding right ?
let them kneel, I won't. its their choice

But perhaps necessary.
My parents lived through the '60s. Most people not killed by the KKK, drug overdose, or Vietnam survived it just fine.
College athletes kneeling during the national anthem, which most fans are too drunk to properly sing along to anyway, will not be the end of Western Civilization or the complete undoing of Judeo-Christian values in America.
If older people or "Trumpers" can't understand that, then that's not anyone's problem but their own. There are plenty of people who have served in the military who are okay with 1st Amendment expressions.
How about law enforcement disrespecting human rights? Choking and shooting black men in the back. There is corruption in law enforcement that should not go unnoticed. If that means protesting against it, then so be it.Kapernick, on at least one occasion, wore socks depicting cops as pigs. To me, using an NFL football game to demonstrate that type of disrespect toward law enforcement is inappropriate.
What a waste of text.

All public schools are based on socializing the cost and responsibility to educate the population. Perhaps you should become a fan of some private school if you don’t want to support Marxism.Should't you be a Cal fan?

Many others have posted reasons why they don’t think it’s disrespectful. Obviously those posts haven’t swayed you, so I’ll go another way. Kneeling is a protest. It’s supposed to agitate you. It’s supposed to make you feel unsettled. And it’s supposed to rub it in your face that this country has a problem. You finally decided to make a cogent argument, now use those same thinking skills to try and explain why kneeling for the anthem isn't showing disrespect to people of all races, ages, religions and political persuasions. Because if you choose to actually think, you will realize that kneeling for the anthem isn't just about BLM. If your father said something that you didn't agree with, do you say I'm sorry I don't agree, or do you say "you're dead to me" Kneeling for the flag is in essence saying the county is dead to me.

But it’s also an act of faith in America. The protesters believe that once good people realize the problem, they will demand a solution even if they didn’t enjoy having their face rubbed in it. That’s America baby. That’s a nation that alive and healthy and something to be proud of.

Mesa, why are so so fearful? Marxists and terrorists? Cities burning? BTW, what does Marxism mean anyway? Capitalism has left many of the protesters behind and even more amazing, most of the current president’s supporters.

I support the team kneeling, and will still attend games with my friends and my daughter.
But I think I've probably attended the last game with my parents. They're older. They either won't go or if they go they will be yelling at the players (or people around them) to stand for the flag. Both are Trumpers.
My grandfather fought in WWI, and I have other family in the military. There's just a whole generation out there that equates "saluting the flag" with "saluting the troops" and doesn't understand this kneeling style protest or doesn't have enough of a "you do you" attitude to leave it be.
They'd probably make a scene and end up on a Twitter video yelling and acting wild. Anyone else have people like this in their family, or just me?
Don't stand for the anthem? Then scholarship should be revoked. The lack of respect for our flag and institutions is shameful. Mob mentality is going on in America with thugs tearing down statues
I hear so many of you chastising the BLM movement as rooted in Marxism. There are many forms of Marxism, as a few posters have so eloquently stated, enlighten yourselves. Yes, the women who began the movement has been trained in elements of this, but your deflection of the movement itself by comparing it to MarxIt’s regimes is just ignorance on your part. All they’re demanding is your racist stances/undertones toward blacks will be tolerated no more. Sorry, but you better get used to it as this election in November will end this ugly four years where your fears were put to the forefront by a racist president. Don’t be fearful of the blacks, they just want to be treated equally. Why is this so difficult for you accept?
You've been drinking the far-left kool-aid. Twenty unarmed Blacks were killed by law enforcement in 2019. Yep 20. That's less than are killed via Black on Black crime in Chicago on the weekends. You really don’t understand what is going on? What institutions? The institution of racism? How’d your rally turn out out last night? Get used to it buddy, the revolution is here, so jump on and be a part of the changes that will truly “make this country great again.”
We’re getting closer Mesa. Poorly applied policing is what I consider the “tough on crime thing.” We’re arresting people for way to many minor offenses, especially again poor people. Once you get a strike in our criminal justice system it becomes very hard for you. Minor traffic stops and ticketing for this and that in the poor community where people can’t pay the tickets or even afford to pay to fix the car. I’m not saying being less tough on real crime, I’m saying be less tough on on when you have the judgement to make a difference.
Nope, players should be given the choice to do what they want without being criticized. A player can be in favor of standing for the anthem and be against racism.
I never meant they should be forced to, but there is no I in team. I hope they would all come together, at least one time.
Mesa - after reading many of your posts this past week, I feel you are no different than many others, small narrow, and misguided. I know of no one who served in the military that needed to brag about the fact and explain to others “I fought for your freedom to blah, blah, blah. The flag is sacred, blah, blah, blah. Insecure and small. Your narrow view of the kneeling of Kaepernick and others shows your narrowness. The statement of Soros funding some group called antifa, completely misguided and actually laughable. I agree with many others, the militarization of our pastimes has gotten out of hand. You? Of course not. Your ignorance of the peaceful demonstrations by MLK, how the government/military squashed them with violence and how current blacks feel like it got them nowhere make me question your ability to understand the current situation. The deep seeded racism on this board propels me to call it out, no more standing on the sidelines. BTW, I’ve never felt the need to let others I have a masters degree, does that empower you?Feel free to spend time responding, but it’s all I need to know about you.
This is the second time I’ve had to call you out for pretending that kneeling is violent.Kneeling IS a protest...as you say...and its MEANT to be disrespectful.
The "protestors" are angry and are demanding everyone agree to all of the things THEY believe need to be done to address the racism problems in this country. They are asserting that they get to define the scope and depth of the problem, direct the solution, and that the rest of us should just shut up and listen...and you should especially shut up if you are white. Well, that's a racist position...but worse...its an anti-democratic position. Change in THIS country is not supposed to come from intimidation, burning down cities, killing policemen, declaring crime filled autonomous zones (CHOP), and terrorizing citizens...its supposed to come through open debate and respect for the opinions of those with whom you disagree.
The Left seems to have forgotten that this is a Republic, and violence is not a part of how we resolve our differences. If it continues to BE a part of it, than the Republic will fall...because governance of and by the people can ONLY work when peaceful resolution of differences is a part of the social compact amongst citizens.
And that's not even getting into the fact that Marxist and Terrorist groups have pushed their way into these protests and are warping that message even further. No doubt, most protestors see a problem with race in America and sincerely want to fix it...but if you mix Marxists (BLM) and terrorists (Antifa) into this mix than the conversation ends abruptly. Just as its encumbent on conservatives to shut down and lock out idiots like white supremacists, it is equally incumbent on the Left to shut out these Marxist and Terrorist groups in their midst. When that is done, the sane people can sit down using democratic means and fix the very real problems we have with racism in this country. But real change cannot happen whilst cities are burning and people are being murdered in the streets by these groups.

Of course they are, that’s a requirement.Call me out? Violent kneeling? That's hilarious.
I said it was disrespectful.
Of course they are, that’s a requirement.
Anyone who thinks polite protesting is effective, slept through history class.Required by who?
Anyone who thinks disrespect is the way to win people over...is a peawit.
you will find out very quickly that you cant control someone with a handbook that much . all it will take is one lawsuit and they will win . you can not control some ones constitutional rights with a handbook .You are wrong. When they are on that field they are under the direction of the University and the athletic department. As a matter of fact while you are a student you are under the rules of the student handbook while you are in school and when you arent.
