*****Florida A&M vs Iowa Game Thread*****

Well, we can disagree. I'd say most of those groups have good shooters but are lacking a real pg and a guy who can attack off the dribble.

Definitely some better individual players in some of those years.

I like the upside of Harding Bowen and Dix but none of them have played enough yet to say how good they will be.

I want guards that can create off the dribble and go around defenders rather than relying on outside shooting.
The problem with Fran's recruiting is he doesn't get guards that can do both. They can either get to the rim (and not many of them could) and not be good shooters or they were spot up guys with no game off the dribble. Basically no dual threat guards. I agree he needs to ride with those three guards (especially Harding and Dix) to know what he has going forward.

I think we’ve seen enough of Bowen to get a fair assessment. Harding is the one I want to see more of, but like what I see so far. The connection with Freeman is huge and you can kind of see start with the other guys too. His court vision is unreal. I’m not sure where his conditioning is (seems fine so far), but I’d like Iowa to get him as many minutes as he can handle.
Agree 100%. This team looks better when he is on the floor and the offense flows better. Fran talks about PMac, Peyton and Perkins as the leaders but I think the guy who will be the real leader with more playing time is Harding

I mean he was only a Jerry West Shooting Guard of the year finalist, what two out of three seasons? He played the three a lot for Iowa, but in the same sense of this entire argument, Sandfort is playing the four, as did Connor. All of them are guards. It sounds more like you guys are talking about PGs???

You’d take this group over 2019-20: Bohannon-Toussaint-Evelyn-Fredrick-Wieskamp-McCaffery. Even Evelyn on this squad would make this team significantly better.
To me a guard has to be a primary ball handler, not just an outside shooter, which is what Weiskamp was. It is subjective and I can see an argument for Connor and even Sandfort and Gatens. That’s why I consider Marble and Jok guards, they often ran the point or went iso.

Evelyn was not very good, outside a couple games where he got hot. I’d take any of Perkins, Dix, Bowen or Harding over him.

I think Harding will be a leader too, but wouldn’t expect it from him as a freshman. Maybe that’s what needs to happen, because this team is lacking one. Even with Keegan, who wasn’t outspoken like most leaders, but you knew they could get him the ball and let him go to work like a leader. Probably not a popular opinion, but maybe this is where the team misses a guy like Connor idk? It is pretty evident that this team needs a leader and to me, Perkins is likely the guy this year.

He is the only player that is really a PG. I think bowen is more of a 1/2 leaning towards a 2.
