I took Holy Cross and the points, Figured Iowa would win, but by less than the spread....it was pretty high.

She got the charge call because she was bitching at the ref after the last foul call. Ref decided to remind her who is in charge . She needs stop. She struggled that half and made it worse with her behavior.
Oh, I agree about her complaining and throwing out her arms. Just stop it. If you are going to drive through 4 people in the lane you are going to get bumped.

At the same time the refs let way too many defenders hand check, bump her and slap at her in the open court. Those need to be called to settle down the game

As I was hoping, they shook off some rust after a 2 week layoff, and won handily. Still a few things to clean up, however.
Yeah, there is. I'm emailing Bluder tomorrow to tell her to put on her damn blazer. The ladies really struggle when she is without it.

Nope.

Just a gigantic baby.
I realize its way to deep for you to grasp, but you get the bad with the good, or I should say great. It's like people posting that she shouldn't make this pass or that one. Except thats WHY she is what she is. You know the ONLY woman to lead the nation in scoring AND assits EVER and Oh she's done it THREE times. She makes these players better. Pure and simple. Yes, she has a dark side, just like so many of the truly great players. I can assure Jordan had one and he was HATED by most of the players he played against, (and a few he played with). Like CC he was going to win no matter what. Thats why the Bulls went 72-10 in a regular season. Because he drove them.

Seriously, there are people here who act like they would rather she never played at Iowa. Lisa would field a good team, I'm sure. BUT NONE of what we've seen these last two years would have happened without her. She handles the pressure so well in last years tourney run. So far in the B1G, and today it looks different. She's struggling. I really think the finality of their next loss being her LAST game for this team is strangling her. Thats the one thing thats different this year. Lose and she's done at Iowa. Hopefully she can settle into this run, and enjoy it.

I really think the finality of her next loss being her last game has made this March different for her. I know she thought that announcing her decision to go pro would lighten her stress, but I think its actually done the opposite...
I don't know about this, it's true of every senior...not unique to CC.

The cumulative pressure of the entire season is probably taking its toll. She not only is the center of attention on the court, she's had plenty of distractions off the court too. Great as it all is...it has to be exhausting.

Of course, but thats my point. She had the chance to return, (something NONE of the other seniors did), but thought announcing early would lighten her burden. She hasn't shot well in a game since, at least not in the first half.

Weird game.
I think the expectations from everyone effected this entry into the tournament. And those expectations also effect the way we watch them play.

Team has to expect lots of tight, aggressive defense, and they best start thinking about their passing. Can't be lazy with the ball. Hope they can settle down Monday.

O'Grady did really well without Stuelke playing, and McCabe looked like she's been handling the ball more in practice. Overlooked, I think, was the stellar play of Kate Martin (14 rbs and 15 pts).

Imagine Clark will settle down, but I imagine it's a tough spot to be in when everyone expects a show--and a bigger show than last year.

With all the irons she has in the fire she has to tell everyone "No" until Iowa is out of tourney. Hopefully, she will apologize to her teammates and come out focused mentally and physically ready Monday,

This is why I struggle with her "role model" status for young girls. Yes, aspire to be like CC and improve your game + skills. No, don't act like CC does on the floor. How she conducts herself on the floor is NOT OK, and I hope young girls aren't trying to emulate her antics. Great offensive player with great court vision, but her behavior on the floor is awful. Just play the game and like her Dad said, "shut up".

Clown you have NO idea all the great things this young woman has done OFF the court to benefit those in need. Has there EVER been a player of either gender under this much scrutiny because if this media age? EVER? And yet she loses her shit (from time to time) under the constant physical and mental pressure she's under, and here come the keyboard warriors to critique her. 95% of humans would melt under the pressure she's been under the last year and a half.

You are right, no one of us have ANY idea what CC is truly like. She has created a public persona, and she has benefitted greatly $$$. Good for her for helping others. If so, I admire that. My point is that her on the court behavior is not something we need to condone. It seems like a lot of people are OK with her behavior, simply because of her talent.

Would you say the same thing about a male player? When guys do it, they are intense, they hate to lose, they play on the edge. When females show that kind of emotion, people have a totally different reaction.
