Hurricane season has arrived....

While I realize we're mostly (and rightfully) looking forward this morning toward the approach of Milton, at dinner with a neighbor last night I learned that the entire Blue Ridge Parkway through Virginia and North Carolina -- all 469 miles of it -- has been closed to all uses, to assess the damage from Helene, with no potential reopening estimates. Some of the pics from the south end are truly catastrophic -- complete collapses/washouts of roads on the side of a mountain at 3000 feet (along with the mountain itself), collapses near tunnels, many large trees down, etc.

So much for fall foliage.
Oh, it is busted up all right.
I speculate that only short sections will open up in Spring of ‘25. That ole girl needs a lot of R n R.

Uh, yes, we actually do.

People were quite able to measure barometric pressures back then. These major hurricanes have the lowest pressure readings we've seen. Due to warming oceans.

Today, we just have lots of other measurements we can track.
Go back and review barometric readings for hurricanes over the past 150 years compared to today if you want to claim otherwise.
Post your data.

No climatologist says this.

They've explained to you, time after time, that the storms get worse and stronger due to human cause warming of the atmosphere and oceans.
They’ve offered their explanations and I appreciate it.
Back to the weather.

Good news (for me). The updated NHC wind probability table is showing decreasing chances of hurricane force winds here at Tradition Manor.

The Manor is about halfway between Orlando and Daytona. Yesterday, the chances of hurricane force winds were 12% and 8% for those locations respectively. The new chart shows 9% and 4%.

Keep that trend going!

Wish that Biden would send down a bunch of Bradley fighting vehicles down to assist with the storm; maybe get people moving out of the path.

Then, we could call them the Milton-Bradley's....

Ok on the punchline, but a little too much work in the set up

Nice to see you back Joe.

Insurance doesn’t deliver water and food and clothing and everything else you need to make it to tomorrow. You’d be lined up to get whatever you needed just like everybody else who faces a disaster. You know it but you’re too hypocritical to ever admit it.

And we know you have no idea you need to have water stockpiled in the event of a hurricane. Everyone who was here remembers your whining.

Oh....we remember it well.

Amazon would only "deliver" bottled water for like $238 for a 24-pk.
And he whined about not having containers to put tap water in, because Home Depot was "sold out, too"....

So copy/paste it for all to see, instead of hurling insults.

EDIT: There's some pretty sweet "back boobs" in that thread, as well....

tl;dr version:

Mrs. Tradition decided that we needed more water (we had plenty of water) and she was unable to find any at the stores. On a lark, I decided to see if Amazon would deliver water, and they would, but the price was the definition of gouging.

I thought that everyone would focus on Amazon gouging for water during a declared emergency (which is unlawful in the state of Florida) but @Joes Place turned it into a ridiculous "Trad didn't have any water" bullshit narrative in his uniquely insufferable troll way.

And now you know the rest of the story.

Thanks. I suspected as much.

Yeah...you might want to check the thread.
So, everyone is out of bottled water. So, I had a brainstorm... I bet Amazon has bottled water, and it'll be delivered for free!

Wrong.

Free shipping might not arrive in enough time.

Guess what they want for expedited shipping for two cases of water?

$318.50!!!!

WTF?
Okay, plan B... water jugs! I'll bottle my own damn water!

Oops.... the Coleman 5 gallon jug usually ships in one or two months.

Geez. I can't win.
So sad, huh?
It's after the storm when you need water. If the local water plant takes damage (or simply doesn't have power), you won't have any tap water. That'll suck fast in Florida this time of year.
They DID get the necessities, of course. Wine...
The wife (no pics) bought several big bottles of red wine. Doesn't have to be cold.
...and smokes.
We have about 1 and 1/2 right now. Will pick up another two cartons later this week.
🤣

The 5 pm update increased predicted storm surge in Lee and Collier counties by 2 feet. Not good. The barrier island are gonna get wrecked again.

He ia still out there. He just said he has heard the surge will be 8 feet but he only thinks it will be 5..........

Coast guard or Darwin going to win that one?
Some people are so dumb it's almost impossible to kill them.

See: Donald J. Trump.

This dude will probably survive.
