Biggest game of the year so far!

Maryland (13-0, 3-0) comes to Carver with a perfect record, although they haven’t had a tough non conference schedule, outside of a win against Duke.

Iowa (12-2, 2-1) has won three straight and is playing solid basketball.

I see a tight game with Maryland pulling away late and grabbing a 83-75 victory.

Here we go !! After watching a few other games yesterday, it struck me. I think part of our problem is we seem to be caught between playing fast and playing slow. If you think about it, many of our stupid passes are early in the shot clock or making a quick, albeit dumb passes trying to force it up the court.

I love playing fast. I just don’t think we have anyone with the vision or the passing ability that can play like that. When we take our time we can make good passes. When we hurry, we do dumb shit 🤷‍♂️

Not to over simplify stuff too much but if the Hawks as a team could ( someone besides McCabe) knock down open 3’s it would really help alleviate the Iowa is not real good at playing fast perception, The Hawks have pushed and gotten numerous wide open looks from 3, They obviously have struggled to make them.

Look no further than Guyton.

So we’re shooting 32% from 3 and our opponents shoot 31%. Honestly we should shoot less. Olson shooting 12-51 from 3. It’s not her game. Guyton 11-19 and McCabe are honestly the only 2 who should be taking them unless they’re wide open. I’d rather we drive the ball or get Stuelke more shots. She should be getting 12-14 shots a game but it’s not happening.

Again, we got used to CC with her logo 3’s and step back 3’s and we think why can’t these other girls make them? Less 3’s please.

Both teams out to prove something. Should be a good one.

Olsen's 3-shots are usually inside the rim. Not her shot, but certainly capable to get them in. I'd bet she's hitting in practice. Regardless need her mid-range today. +20 and Iowa is in this game.

Agreed…it’s interesting, this team is frustrating to watch. But that’s because expectations are higher and we can see what’s there. With that said this team is equally better than, many of our fans suggest and not as good as they could or maybe even should be.

I’m looking for a step up today 🥳

I was reading on Twitter about South Carolina, and apparently several of their fans are pissed because they think Dawn should be starting MILAYSIA
FULWILEY because she’s their best player.

And does anyone else think USC being favored at Auburn by 28 1/2 is a shit ton?

Kind of shocked Iowa would be favored by some of those computers, but hopefully those computers must see Guyton going double digits today.

Drive more and find a second midrange shooter

I am preparing myself for an *** kicking. Post CC revenge factor with a lot of teams this year IMO.
Seeking revenge in sports and achieving it are two pretty different things. That doesn't mean Maryland won't win today, but it does mean revenge will have little, if anything, to do with the outcome. Whoever plays better will win, and if it's Maryland, they'll probably say it was revenge, an easy thing to claim after the fact.

What? Olsen has plenty of strength ….she is just not as accurate from that distance as other shooters. Nothing wrong or special about that. Her “sweet spot” for jumpers is 10-15 feet.
Lucy is a good player with a variety of skills, but strength is not an asset, she does have an odd shot, and she is not adept at three-point shooting. Let Guyton and McCabe shoot the threes. Everyone else protect the ball and play hellacious D. That's how the Hawkeyes win today, IMHO.
