The biggest difference between the 2 teams has been recruiting. Iowa recruits really well but there is a big gap in the overall recruiting between the 2 programs.

Yup...damned if he does or doesn't but would have been nice to have it set up or been a countershot. Warner stuck to his strengths the whole tourney and got out of it.It's exactly why Dean wasn't shooting as well.

Get used to PSU dominating for the foreseeable future. Losing is one thing. Losing close is another. But PSU is embarrassing everyone else.
The problem is that they are in better physical shape and mentally stronger than us, so they will just win in other ways.

Yep! Our coaching staff needs to figure out what Cael and company are doing and start getting on that program. My thoughts are that TnT need to bring in some outsiders (or insiders who are no shit game changers) and make some changes. No doubt we have a great program, but we should not be getting it handed to us 10 out of 12 years by Penn State or anyone else. And I know we won last year and would have won the year before, but the other 10 years including this year we were only second once. We've got to right the ship and I don't think having a staff of clones is going to do the trick unless each of the clones is Spencer Lee and the likes (though there aren't any like SL). I love the Brands and don't think there's any better out there but something needs changed...
Coaching is the big difference, Iowa just had two top 10 P4P wrestlers never win a title. PSU does this routinely with those type of guys.
Man. Sucks that *real* wrestling is not going to get to see Steveson's talent anymore. Can't blame him, though....
As I said last night, Gable toys with these guys. Sucks so bad he won't represent Team USA.

At least we were the best team two years in a row. Nobody else stepping up. We are back to psu cruising while the rest of college wrestling grabs their ankles and smiles.

I have criticisms of our coaches but I just think the biggest difference is their talent accumulation. Iowa's not really that close from a recruiting standpoint.
Easy to say that but veal only had one kid that wasn’t top 50 that he developed. Which was James English. And he has had kids that were top 5 that he didn’t developed either. Guilbon, Bartlett although he still has time. It’s a game. He does get the best kids with the exception of Spencer!!

no... we have to change the way we wrestle period.... PSU is the biggest rival at the moment...but the blue print is out on how to beat Iowa. Hang back and let them come to you. eventually they will give you an opening to counter. Look at this tournament... hell look at last year. 2021 and the team title, is the exception to the previous decade.

Ima say this and I’m out for tonight. I respect all the kids that get out there and put it on the line!!! Wrestling is and always will be the toughest sport known to man!! We all don’t have to like each other or who we root for!!! But I love and respect all of our Hawkeyes!!! The best of the best!!! Live to fight another day. Rest easy to all!!!
