***Official 2020 Presidential Election Thread - The Purge***

The funny thing about all of this is that Dems and the pollsters thought voter turnout was going to win them the election. Did you guys not think Trump supporters or leaners wouldn’t turnout to vote?

No, that's why it was so important to stop all the suppression efforts of the GOP.

Whether Biden wins or loses, it's time for the Democrats to choose a new strategy that isn't based on anyone disagreeing with their policy agenda being a racist or stupid. It just isn't working. They're either going to have to come closer to the middle or do a hell of a lot better persuading people to their side philosophically.

I actually think Biden could potentially reset that if he wins. I don't know what happens if he loses.

You're right. And I've explained this numerous times to some of the most ardent libs on here. Playing the race card unduly does not work.

It's still 50/50.

I think the people who said this will take a long time to sort out are probably right. One thing is for sure: Democrats need to figure out how to be more inclusive. This is an election they should have won in a landslide.

Yep, I posted the exact same thought at the same time. Democrats spent the last four years acting like they won in a landslide rather than lost in a historic surprise. Blamed it on Russia, Comey, everything else.

I do not put Biden in that category by the way, I think he was the right guy philosophically. He just wasn't a strong enough figure to convince more people he was the real heart of the Democratic party to make this the cake walk it should be.

Newsmax is where its at. Fox......meh.

I’m watching the multicast on DirecTv. It has two left wing channels, CNN & MSNBC and the two on the right Fox News & NewsMax Media. NewsMax called FL for Trump 2 hours ago and the others won’t touch it yet.

if we were going to shut down, we should have done a proper shut down in the beginning (not the shutdown we had where every business tried to justify how they were "essential" so they could stay open).

It's all going to come down to a lot of testing and people taking responsibility and quarantining if they test positive or are around someone that tests positive. That is the only way I see any sort of way to combat it short of a vaccine (that many people won't take because 'I'm not letting the gubmint inject me with microchips'). Until then, bars and restaurants will stay empty, businesses will have less traffic, attractions will remain closed and sports venues and concert spaces will stay empty. They "lets open up" strategy is not going to bring the economy back. I just mention that because that is what I see the repubs focus on with the exit polls with COVID towards the bottom.
I agree with your post 100% and don’t have the answer on where to go from here. However, I know that shutting down everything in an effort to get rid of COVID a) won’t work because there are too many idiots in this country who won’t stay home and the virus will continue to exist in the States and b) will be absolutely devastating to the US economy for sure in the short term, and potentially in the long term. It sets up a scenario where many citizens need to rely on the government to provide for them, and that’s not something I’m particularly optimistic to see

And in the last 7 days I have had an employee test positive then come to work for 3 days without telling anyone and a neighbor where the wife tested positive and then hosted 15 HS kids for a Halloween overnight party.

Again, NYT has a bug in their forecast whether they want to admit it or not. Don’t freak out yet.

Yep.

And Russia and Comey have ended up being an utter disaster, it's clear it allowed Democrats to thoroughly lie to themselves.

I am slightly wishing for a narrow Biden victory, but I don't know. I fear the lesson democrats will take from a loss is that he was TOO moderate and didn't excite people as much as Bernie or AOC would.

When you look at the history of U.S. elections, it's rare for an incumbent POTUS to be defeated. When the economy has been good, it's near impossible. The only thing that gave Joe Biden a puncher's chance is COVID. I think the rioting and the way that Republicans pander to the "socialism" fears negated some of that advantage.

As a result, you see a chaotic race. One thing that is interesting is the way Trump supporters respond to the changing election results compared to anti-Trumpers. Trump supporters are always optimistic. Anti-Trump people go from gloating to suicidal.

Fox News is currently lying about equity futures. They’re up because the market thinks Biden will win, and there will be an enormous stimulus bill. The S&P was down 50 after Florida reported for Trump.
You don't believe this...there's no way you believe this.

My confidence is following the betting sites. Trump was all the way up to -800 and now back down to -350. I think we have a long couple of recounts ahead of us. I didn't think Trump could win. An hour ago I thought he would be declaring victory tonight. Now, I don't think we'll have an answer for some time.

I agree with all of this. I thought Trump was heading to a comfortable victory pre covid.

Spot On. They can start by not callling everyone a racist, sexist bigot and moron, etc........ when they don’t agree with them. It is tiresome and I said it 2 months ago it would end up costing them the election, and here we sit. @Chishawk1425, here is looking at you.

With that said, this election isn’t over yet.

Trunp is not losing.
