*****Official Cubs 2023 thread*****

Welp, that really sucks, for Codi and the organization. He may be "done-done."

I personally thought he was coming back too fast; this doesn't mean I was right, but it sure doesn't prove me wrong...

Cubs have some other big arms on the farm; would be great to have someone step up and be even better by '24.
It's highly likely we will see someone get their first taste of the majors soon, like Daniel Palencia, or another guy from Iowa. There are a few guys down at AAA that are interesting enough to try in the next few weeks. After that it's looking a lot like the Cubs are going to be in the market to add an arm before the trade deadline.

I can't believe Leiter didn't dislocate his left shoulder, or break his arm on that garage play by Mancini.

Former Cubs Jamie Moyer and Bob Tewksbury would also compete for that distinction.

Bailey Horn is also a strong candidate. I imagine if a starter goes down, Ben Brown might be next in line.

Those three are probably the most likely pitchers in the Cubs' farm system to make their debuts this year, with Chris Clarke and Cam Sanders being dark horses.

I personally hope that the Cubs don't need any of them.

I would just like to give a shout out to Fulmer. He hasn't pitched much high leverage lately but seems as though he has found his form of late. He definitely had a terrible stretch and caught some well deserved grief for it, but it looks like he has put that phase behind him. The Cubs are going to need him. Hopefully Rucker and Boxberger come back as strong.

That's all.😉

I hope this side trip to London does not kill the win streak we were on. This whole thing just screams "distraction".
Fingers crossed, but they are professionals, and they travelled smartly. Hung out in Pittsburgh for a few hours after the game on Wednesday, then took an overnight flight. Two full days off.

The I-Cubs versus the Memphis Redbirds tonight on Marquee if anyone is interested.

Ryan Jensen, the 2019 1st round pick of the Cubs is making his AAA debut tonight.
Another reliever prospect who throws in the 95 range comfortably.

7-0. The Cardinals might be jet lagged.
Wainwright looked awful. 5.5 ERA on the season. I guess pissing and moaning about Contreras to the Cardinals beat writers didn't solve the real issues.
