There will be failures in the Top 100. Perhaps we'd be better off if Fran had gotten a single Top 100 guy since those two four years ago.
In Fran's defense on Olaseni, he was VERY raw. Had only played organized basketball for like 3 years at that point.
Pretty embarrassing when the leading scorer is a walk on player. It certainly speaks of how well Fran has recruited over the last couple of years.
Raw means he had upside. Not his worst move. Not getting a legit scoring PG when he had two backup types was the big mistake.
It's not losing in RD 2 that's killing me. It's getting humiliated. Giving them a good game but coming up a little short is a lot easier to stomach that a blowout.
Mental toughness if you lack athleticism. I guess that is why UNI competes, an Iowa folded
Is it really? Second half has been much easier to watch because i was able to turn it and just not care anymore.
Verne is terrible announcer. He has had numerous gaffes in last several days
I do feel bad for Uthoff and Jok because they spent too much time playing 2 on 5 on the offensive end of the floor. Hey Fran keep two non shooting guards on the floor at the same time. I thought Kenny Smith characterized Gesell, during half time, perfectly. Gessel does not know how to play through contact.
It is for me. I know what you mean -- very little stress (lots of nausea though) in watching a blowout. You're stomach isn't in knots. But losing to a better team with a strong effort is much better IMO. Same goes for last year.

Uthoff was too 100. We have too 100 guys coming in the next 4 classes. I don't think you realize how tough it was to recruit to Iowa after Lick left.
Outside of the horrible play by Iowa and seniors playing like freshmen, I'm really impressed by Nova. Disciplined, great FT shooters, good ball rotation, good penetration and great shooting. Plus they hustle on defense. I'll be rooting for them the rest of the way.
Gesell is the guard you bring off the bench to backup your starting PG. Same with Clemmons.

Olaseni was Iowa's best post player, burning his RS was as boneheaded as Ferentz burning Ott's redshirt
Kinda glad I picked Nova to win it all, now. Maybe Iowa's making them look good, maybe they're that good. We'll see soon, I guess!
What happened to Iowa's easy road to the Sweet 16 comments? Where are the posters that were postulating that nonsense?
When Villanova was at 65 points, there was a poster who said they didn't need to score another point to win. Will they be right?
I see that logic, too. Just figured Fran wanted to get him game time reps against inferior teams early in the season to get him game experience.
