Iowa Hawkeyes (17-12, 9-9) at Northwestern Wildcats (20-8, 11-6)

The Wildcats are 14-1 in home games.

LAST 10 GAMES: Wildcats: 7-3, averaging 76.9 points, 34.0 rebounds, 14.7 assists, 5.6 steals and 3.3 blocks per game while shooting 44.9% from the field. Their opponents have averaged 71.8 points per game.

Hawkeyes: 6-4, averaging 81.1 points, 32.1 rebounds, 14.6 assists, 5.8 steals and 4.3 blocks per game while shooting 48.3% from the field. Their opponents have averaged 81.4 points.

I’ve always predicted this game as a loss and although the hawks have played better lately i still think the Cats are just too good defensively. Give me 81-74 NW.

That 1 loss was to Chicago State right before Christmas. Quad4! They have a great home enviorment so it will be a tough out but Langborg is questionable and Berry is out for the year. Hawks win by 5!

If langbord is out or ineffective we have a shot.
Martelli is now ripping it up along with Bouie so Hawks will need to shoot great from the field and line to be the 1st BIG team to win in that gym.

Payton going for back to back triple doubles, acting like Jimmy Chitwood...

jnw has plenty of incentive in this one to solidify their already good chances of making the field and, importantly, to improve their seed line.

IF Iowa wins it's next 2 games they could end up with the #5 seed in the BTT.

Iowa is just one game behind Nebraska & Michigan State in the loss column and has the head to head wins over both.

I remember watching that Chicago State game. Welsh Ryan wasn't even half full... it was like the old days when people read books at games.

I was at the Northwestern game last February and that place can rock.

Wis plays Illini and PU yet.
If they lose those 2 and finish 11-9 do they have tie-break on Hawks?
Could happen.
NW plays Iowa at MSU and Minny.
If they lost all three we have tie- break on them. Could Hawks get #3 seed if everything fell into place?

Expect our boys to come out with a lot of energy, in man to man defense. Gonna need to find minutes for Perkins to rest. We’ll need him down the stretch.

I think NW is the third best team in the B1G, but they already lost one starter for the rest of the year, so losing another would definitely help. Need to keep Bouie from going off, which Dix seems to be good at. Not sure who will guard NW's forwards (Martinelli and Barnheizer), who are the next most likely to hurt us.

I have a good feeling about this game, which probably dooms us.

Well, I don't like cheering for other team's injuries, but I'll take 'em.

🤷‍♂️
Big.
NW has a bunch of physical bigs like Nicholson and hunger.
Owen has to keep them off the boards and stay outta foul trouble.
Ladji needs to battle also.

This will be an interesting game for me. I have pretty much expected not to make the tournament all year, this is a new scenario for us.

Honestly, this team has improved as the season went on. Probably one of Frans better coaching jobs, as much as that upsets some of you 🤷‍♂️

And no that doesn’t undo their defensive woes!
