Iowa Hawkeyes (13-9, 5-6 Big Ten) at Penn State Nittany Lions (11-11, 5-6 Big Ten)

LAST 10 GAMES: Nittany Lions: 5-5, averaging 75.4 points, 30.3 rebounds, 12.8 assists, 9.1 steals and 2.5 blocks per game while shooting 44.8% from the field. Their opponents have averaged 76.1 points per game.

Hawkeyes: 6-4, averaging 81.3 points, 33.2 rebounds, 17.0 assists, 7.3 steals and 3.7 blocks per game while shooting 47.7% from the field. Their opponents have averaged 76.9 points.

I thought this was a loss several weeks ago and for me I still feel that way. I’m going to predict 84-77 PSU.

Iowa’s slim to nonexistent NCAA tournament hopes definitely live on or officially die tonight.
We are on the razors edge. Somehow we probably need to be 5-4 or better to make the bubble.
Illinix2, Wis, @nw @msu@ MD...oh boy.

As long as a team is above .500, they still have a shot at an NIT bid right?

(not that I am excited for such, per se, but seriously doubting an NCAAT bubble bid is a likely outcome this season)

Literally the only thing that matters for the NIT for power conferences now is the NET rankings now. A team could be 0-20 in the conference, but if they had the highest NET rank of all of the other Big Ten teams that missed the tournament, they would be the automatic qualifier.
Right now, Iowa is pretty comfortably one of the automatic qualifiers with where they are at in the NET relative to other Big Ten teams that are likely to miss the tournament.

Next 2 are must wins to have any chance to dance. Lose them, and we are probably playing the first day of the BTT.

It will be interesting if Harding is used more tonight against Clary or Baldwin, both are the drive train that runs the Penn St offense. Not sure Dix can stay with either of them, maybe Bowen can. Iowa cannot afford to lose this game.

Why is it that other big 10 teams. NW, Nebr can beat Purdue and when Iowa plays them or anybody good I don't think we have a chance of winning.

Why do you want to get to the NCAA's. Be embarrased again?

Never understood this question… in my mind. It literally has no sensible outcome….

Make it and you have a chance, maybe a super small chance but a chance….

Miss it and you have nothing….

It’s honestly just another one of those coping mechanisms fans use, passive aggressive to show frustration.

Until game time and it's really confirmed, I hope Iowa takes that announcement with a great of salt.

When your interior defense is as bad as Iowa's, especially before Dembele started getting more minutes, quality teams figure that out and start doing their layup drills during the game. With Dix starting at least their are only 2 lousy defenders, instead of 3, but the third still comes in and gives the other team essentially an unguarded player. Iowa has to be hitting their 3s, or their is very little chance of winning.

Exactly. I want them to win tonight because it's more fun to see them win than it is to lose (duh). Then on to the next game.

I'm not going to worry about getting into the Dance until late in the season - if they still have a chance.
